My dealings with John Massoud..Not Good

I am not saying that people who had bad dealings to not chime in. My point is that the name calling,blaming and other non pertinent opinions are what make threads like this go away. I have been on here nearly 10 years and several of the longer term members will attest to the fact that threads like these go nowhere fast thus the moderators shut down the ability for other people (who may have info) to post.Instead they are forced to remove the thread in an attempt to calm the waters. By no means,do I mean to not reply on a thread like this,but I feel if you didn't have a bad dealings yourself,then read and learn. If these threads get removed then who really benefits in the end?Just my humble opinion..

 

Well I would have never thought it in a million years, but I have been wrong many times before. I have received private PM's and phone calls from other members and people who have dealt with John on a business level and these are far from isolated.....So I guess when it all comes down to it we are the ones to blame because no one ever spoke up about it. Everybody makes mistakes, and everyone has a bad turn, but from these people reaching out to us it seems that at least I was mistaken about John in most everything I had previously given him praise for...Friggin' sad really...
When something like this happens - I have to look back to Jim Burek and all of the mess that he was drug through- (and drug people through)- people respected and praised him and he got caught up in a bunch of "crap" for a better word for it - at least he got on here and gave his side of the story so people could hear it. People respect each other, as a whole that is how it should be. Again being man enough to at least fess up says something as to your character. NO ONE wants to think that one of the "legends" in the Buick community is wrong, nor that their story is all completely fabricated. I wish that the others who have called me and Curtis would find the courage to speak up here....if not I will respect their wishes and leave it at that.

 

Scott, I hope you all aren't taking my posts the wrong way.I would hope at some time the people wronged will put their wrong doing on this thread. That way the problems can all be seen for us to determine who is right or wrong. Too many times the initial problem is overlooked as the thread winds up going in a bad direction.Unfortunately,many times the problem is the last thing addressed.Friends of both sides eventually start responding and the thread goes off on a different tangent.I too have been ripped off SEVERAL times by supposed good V8 members.Maybe not for as much as people on this thread,but none the less,I was screwed. I hope most people have a respect for me and I have on many times given parts,or helped people with small items without asking anything in return.Most times,I will send things to the buyers,etc before I receive payment.But,I have now learned that not everybody is like me. I am by no means perfect and I had times last fall when I had family issues and didn't get a couple packages out in a timely manner. I responded to all parties letting them know what was going on. It is only good business.It's too bad that John wont respond to this thread and give his side. Like you stated Jim Burek was called out and he somewhat responded. I read the whole thread and I have my opinion about it.The same way I will have my own opinion about this thread.I just wish 3 or 4 of the responses to this thread that are bashing would disappear..

 

Pat nothing could be further from my mind...as far as that goes I totally agree with you that "opinions" from non-related flamers have closed many a thread on this forum. I am just sad to have found out the things I have...I have praised John and his engine building (or so I thought) when I could have simply praised his delegating skills and connections just as highly, Hell I have been quoted and written atricles for publication in at least three published articles giving John praise beyond praise...To find out that none of it is true, that what I have paid for - Dad has paid for not to mention the personal stuff is all just best guess is disheartening to say the least.

I begged John to come on here and make a statement, to call Dad and set it right...This will touch on our other friendships as well....hell I considered myself a bastard stepchild of the NE Buick Mafia..lol Oh well, those that understand will, and those that do not wont - but I was directly contacted by several people who he has built for after this started and honestly it is just really sad.

Hey, Joe 463. If you can still call me a PAi after all this then you have not been reading this. You have no idea how many parts such as heads and other parts I had already to go which cut the proce way down. This was a simple street build with the only machine work a 30 overbore. Nothing fancy. The fact is John never had any info on what he spent my money on and in fact never paid the machine shop. Can you get that through your head? He strung me along for 9 months wih no results. I have in fact had several street motors built and this was right in line with those. If he had come to me and said it will cost a bit more than I said and showed me some receipts then I would have been glad to work something out....I think John can now be known as the Bernie Maddoff of the Buick world...Any chance at an apology Doug?

 

You misunderstood my post. that was a summary of his post, not what I think. I'll change it to reflect that better.


I'm with you on this. its not your fault he quoted you too low so it wasn't worth his time. 3500 is still pretty cheap for a build even with the parts you supplied.

It isnt worth much if you have to ask Dave.

I hate this for everyone involved, but I just cant get over $17-$20K for a hot street engine with the customer providing some of the bigger castings such as heads and block etc. I've had quite a few engines built over the years (maybe not as many as certain others ), and I will venture to conservatively say I could build 900 Buick HP for that kind of money including the new TA block. o No:

I'm sorry you had to go thru this Dave, you didnt deserve it, especially some of the comments that have been directed your way.

 

Jim, Thanks for your support...Joe 463 sorry if I misunderstood your post. This has been a tough last year for me but things are looking up with the GSX coming together. That has been the one bright spot. Have Boston GSX to thank for that.

 

Sad part is there are several others that have not come forward because they are worried about what we all seen happen to Dave on this thread and future problems at events etc, this is the same reason my self and the Roys didn't start a thread when it happened to us.

It is because of Dave having the nuggets to risk it all by posting his story here that others are now coming forward. It was only after I saw Doug nail Dave hard that I had to step in.

I think people on the net need to think real hard before they start typing, you better be sure its your story to tell. Unlike words that are spoke between 2 people, posting on these forms create a paper trail for the courts to see, its called libel when its on the net. I had something like this happen to me here at Xmas time, but JW and JL delt with it right away, but I had time to print off the thread and send it to my lawyer to add to a growing file.

If people tell there story here and they get attacked like Doug did to Dave but know one stepped in to say hey he did that to me also, what would of happened to Dave? The wheels were in motion to throw Dave under the bus. Why would anyone come forward and post there story after seeing that? I have been saying it for along time now that this feed back section should only be between the parties involved.

Doug I think you should step up and apologize for your attack on Dave. The way I see this deal it bought the buick community closer together. Chris

I don't know any of the people that are involved.

But I can make a strong case against John Massound. He is a member of this site and he is reading this thread. But why does he not sign in on this site under his user name???? It has been almost 2 1/2 years since he has signed in (08-27-2009 12:22 AM).

Are we going to see John post ???? I would bet that he does not post.

You should never ever take on work for someone and not stay in contact and expect people to have a open wallet. Even if they are the biggest pain in the rump.

There is no reason anyone should ever do that. I don't care if you have a business or you do it on the side. What ever happened to the words - respect, honesty???

If you are that busy John stop doing side work that you can not deliver on. You should also make good on anything you have promised.

Don't forget that most Buick people are honest and do have respect.

My dealings have been nothing but great...with John Massoud. Here is a guy who really does all things Buick related for the love of the BBB. For the few here bad mouthing John there are hundreds that know him and how he's helped every one of us at some point or another. For me personally, he's lent his time, and knowledge of the BBB, parts, etc.......wrenching on my Buick......asking for nothing in return.

Johnno, its not just a few, the list is getting bigger and bigger. Bad mouthing? You make it sound like were in the wrong. If he is such a great guy then where is my money? Maybe you need to go back and re-read what he has done to people. Oh by the way you can add Finish Line to the growing list of people he has screwed out of cash but got the parts. Yup, a real modern day Robin hood.

 

Johnno. I know you as well. You were even there on one occassion when I handed John alot of money and parts way back in June of 2011. I know you gave him parts for a rebuild at the same time. Did you get your things completed? I actually gave him the engine long before that day. All I asked was the same thing but I got stonewalled at every turn.,

My original reason for posting this was hoping John himself would respond and try and make things right after the phone calls failed even with another party getting involved. This could have all been avoided but then other people who took a bath would not have had a chance to tell their story. If I ever sold something to someone and they did not like it then they told me about it I would make things right no questions asked. Their money is coming right back to them. For any here that have attacked me then fine but remember the next time you get screwed make sure you do nothing because you might offend the persons friends. Just suck it up and eat it after all it is only money.

 

Having read all these posts it leaves me wondering why we haven't heard from the party that this thread is about.

 

I can tell you 2 things he has been doing while this thread is growing, 1) he is watching this thread 2) and he has been working the phones trying to get people to post nice things about him.

Think about it, if he did come on here what could he say? There are more people on the side lines that have been screwed over by John. Chris
