Latest update block would of been finished by now, but while checking the heads my machinist found the heads cc’d less than anticipated. Not a problem in this case less is better than more. So to keep the pistons at zero deck instead of 7 in the hole he’s going to clean up the combustion chambers.
Latest updates from my machinist. Started smoothing out combustion chambers. He’s waiting on cutters he ordered to complete. He also made pilot bushings, hole in crank was too large and off centered. So it’s moving along.
Cool vid. Reminds me of rowing the gears in my old 350 4-sp. at the track. If only I could've gotten it to launch like that. I'd bring the RPM up just like in the vid but I think was afraid to sidestep the clutch for fear of breaking something. Would've been almost .5 sec. quicker. Would run 14.01 @ 104.
Someone should call TA and discuss the roller rocker fix. I would but it’s $1.50 a minute for me to call the USA. I would like to have TA at least inform people buying the heads that the roller rockers should have the $65 kit that they stated they have....
I went with the kit on mine because the exhaust rocker arm was to close to the valve spring, like just barely touching it. Thinking with heat expansion it would rub.
Latest Buick porn from my machinist. Cylinders finish honed, combustion chambers cleaned up & getting ready to clearance rods as needed.
Good news, BAD news. Motor should be completed soon. Now for the bad news. Last Friday on the way home from a local car show my son experienced a blow out by something in the road. Car went into a guardrail and flipped. The fact he walked away with just scratches on his elbow from the glass crawling out is miracle. Waiting on insurance company for buy out info before making decision on what to do.
Gosh, Wow! Not good news at all. Was that the car your eng. was going in? Glad there was next to no injuries....except that beautiful car.
Yes this is the car the engine was to go in. As soon as I get everything settled with insurance I’ll start looking. I have two options already. A 71 Skylark convertible and a 68 GS convertible. The GS belongs to my machinist’s friend. He has a 455 in it but is willing to pull it out and sell me the car. My son on the other hand wants another 72 GS hardtop. I had the car for over 21 years and was going to be his when we finished.
