My SBB timing cover (stock) is different than the SBB TA sells. The hold down is on the opposite side and the TA has boss for the hold down where the stock one was just tapped through the cover.

I'm using the new TA one so I need a hold down that will work for that.

Because its not for a Sbb its actually for a 231 V6 but will work on either the V6 or 350 the V6 just used a bolt with a washer

It was a kinda heavy washer obviously to keep from bending,..a 1/4in piece of flat stock is all you need to make one,...all the parts stores carry the chevy style it very well will probably work

    Thanks!

I ordered a universal one from the local store, should be in tomorrow. If that doesn't work ill have to go with the bold washer deal.

Or go pilfer through Mart's spare part boxes :D

I bought a Mr. Gasket universal hold down worked perfect thanks :)

I had to make a small bracket to stand off the vacuum boost line for the brakes. Finished up all the wiring to my switch panel for my gauges and to run the fans manually if I want to. Only thing left to do is fire it up now.

Being below freezing for the foreseeable future, I think I need to wait for the temps to at least hit 32°+ and the roads to clear up before can do a start up :( I have no heat! The heater core was shot when I bought the car and, well, priorities like a new build came before that.

Not where you dropped it but 20 ft away in the dark

I have the original, but it wont work with the new intake and dist. I thought I bought the bolt washer one when I ordered the intake from TA.

If it's 20' away in the dark, that's where it's going to stay!

You could have just bead blasted it, painted it, new decal & foams and put it on the top shelf like I did...;)

Why would I want 2 on the shelf? I have my original one and it's in great shape.

This one is getting a 1/2" ring welded in increasing the drop (just a little) so the hood closes and has the original look. Not the open element Cheby look :D

Big day tomorrow. After 2 years on the sidelines, it's time to fire up the new build!

This is as much a V8Buick community build as it is mine. I knew nothing about Buick's (other than I had one) when I made my account here. I could have never gotten this far without the great people, knowledge, and advice from so many here. Thank you!

I'm excited, and a little nervous all at the same time. Last minute words of advice, or good luck is always welcome!
Come tomorrow around noon, the key turns. :)

Just keep the rpm up over 2000 and always up or down a bit for 20 minutes. If possible have a friend watching the gauges.

& a big fan(s) in front of the radiator - Lots of new friction so it may run a bit hot @ 1st (run the heater too). Last one I built fired immediately on 1st crank - Surprised the heck out of us!

    Good Luck! Keep us posted.

It's got a roller cam no need to run the high rpm.
