    Thanks Larry

I was getting confused putting 3R into Summit and local part stores were saying it would not fit my application. The only one that has an application specific choice was Rock Auto.

Ok another question. What series are they?

    1330?1.062
    1330 big cap? 1.125

I didn't have time to disassemble and check specs. I was going to put HD joints on and the 5-795X don't look HD.

So you're saying I shouldn't trust the 49yr old ones with melted plastic sealed caps? :D

    Only if you want to...:D
    I like the greaseable style.

I used the thick composite gaskets which made my gap at the end seals huge. Like the total gap was probably 3/8. I put a nice thick bead of rtv on top of the end seals then tightened intake. I'm firing it up tomorrow for the first time. I'm worried they will leak.

I was told by the guy that made my driveshaft that the grease-able U-Joints are where the weak point is The Spicer U-Joints do not have a grease-able fitting.

Heard the same thing years ago, due to the cross being hollow.

I always position the grease fitting in the drive shaft so under acceleration it’s under compression not being spread. Don’t remember the old timer that gave me that advice, nor do I know of its validity. Just thought I’d throw this out here and see the reply’s.

Well, I'm an idiot. Its the windage tray under the crank. I had it in a box and I took it to work and painted it, thinking it was an external heat shield. Everything is all buttoned up now without it...

Next week I'll take it back into work and blast the paint off.

Has anyone ever omitted this or just forgot to put it back in? Any issues besides the loss with the crank slicing through the oil on the deep end of the pan?

I don't think I have one since I have a bigger pan and the pickup was a lot longer. I am pretty sure it would have taken too much fabrication to make it work so we left it out. But I have a deep pan and at 6 qts in the stick reads 1 qt low so I have a lot of room to the bottom of the pan. If you got the bigger pan you will probably be ok.

I also have a deep pan with an extended pick up tube. Probably 6-7 quarts full.

Your buddy needs more garage space. Looks like he's having a yard sale & I see a nice GS hood....:D
If Guy is spraying and running 11's without a windage tray, you should be good.

Kevin, I see your pan hangs below the crossmember, do you have a pic of the car on the ground also?
I'd like to see how much ground clearance the pan has.

Mark, I have the headers on now and the pan and headers are about flush with each other.

    Ill get some pics tomorrow.
