Thanks for the compliment. Getting really close to wrapping it up. Looking forward to seeing yours done. Are you going to make it to the Pure Stock Drags to spectate this September? Have you ever been to it?

I hear you I'm so tied up with trying to get the house on the market I cannot seem to touch any of the cars except after everyone is in bed and then I am too tired myself. And the weather which was too warm for the whole winter is now rainy and cold

    Tom,

I have never ever been to the PSMCDR`s....I would love to go....that time of year is so busy for me.....getting cars ready for MCACN.

    One year :TU:

As Arnold said..... "I`ll Be Back!"

It felt good to be back working on my Buick :)

I pre-fit the Stage2 Scoop to my best hood....that alone was a chore....pulling all my hoods out of storage and choosing my very best hood. My best hood was the one off the Burnished Brown Post Sedan....it is near perfect. Next is to cut the hole and have the hood chemically stripped and washed. I will also send out my hood hinges to get Phosphate Plated. All of my stainless steal trim for the entire car....with the exception of my bumpers and B90 (I am still undecided on the B90? - less is better) has been beautifully restored to show condition....all wrapped in tissue paper :)
The Bumpers have yet to be test fit and aligned....before I send them out for chroming.

My next large hurdle will be to pre-assemble the car....align all the body panels, make all the gaps much nicer than stock.....tag and bag all the shims....and then blow the car apart again for paint. This is how a car gets done right IMO. This step is very time consuming.....many cars that are being restored today, the owners tend to skip this part....as it is costly....I get it.

While I have been away from the Buick, I have made my own rendering of the Buick....I have had much fun and planning with this....while I am not a skillful artist with pens and pencils.....I surprised myself. I will have this rendering framed and presented with the car....upon completion, if nothing else it will be amusing :)

The last three days I was able to remove all the remaining exterior trim off of the Buick.....minus the door handles....as I had my NOS set of door handles re-chromed....as the NOS Chrome is not that nice.
I made the decision to not use my B90 trim....the car will look much better without it. I will do with Painted body color vs. the Aluminum B90 trim.

All the remaining exterior trim is in excellent condition....only 3-4 dings in the entire set....my polisher will be very happy.

It`s been a long time since I posted....It`s been a long time since I worked on my Buick.
I broke my left leg 5 weeks ago...So I have some time on my hands (not feet, LOL).

I just purchased this very nice original early build 1970 Radiator Top Plate from Todd at
    Stage1 Restoration.
Thank you Todd....it was just as Todd described.

I had a plastic Radiator Top Plate on my 1970 Skylark....but as most of them are....mine too was cracked.

As you can see by these pictures....this is one very nice original example.

Today I began the restoration process.
I carefully removed the original rubber isolator pads. They are in excellent condition.
I cleaned and prepped them and placed them on the shelf labeled.....ready for installation.

This top plate was obviously painted by a previous owner....IMO, not the right thing to do.
These plastic top plates were originally in there natural plastic....which is what I indend to restore it back to....its natural state.

    I first....cleaned the back side :)

    Todd,

Getting my parts from good Buick guys like yourself....is the only way I would have it....it`s all the great people you meet along the way... that becomes the best and will always remain the best part of this hobby of ours.

I remember the day pulling that machine out of Crazy Ray's junkyard with my Tacoma...I'd like to find a few cars today in that shape..

    Pat,

I am certainly glad you did save her that day from Crazy Ray’s.

Because she was so rust free.... is the reason I decided to take her to this next level :)
