I found this 67 LeSabre on kijiji for $225 with a complete running 340 4 bbl and 400 trans. What I'm not sure about is the trans an ST, or TH 400. It seems to have the carb switch for the switch pitch, but there is no bump on the bottom of the pan like my Wildcat.

Should be a switch pitch if original to the car.
Check the tag on the side for positive trans ID.
Also look on the drivers side for the 2 prong elec connector.

It looks like the standard ST 300, forerunner to the TH350. 67 was the last year for it, and it would have a switch pitch. Good find! The only problem is, there isn't much on a LeSabre that a Wildcat can use; the suspension and everything is different. I've already gone that route and had a LeSabre that I ended up selling as a runner because as far as parts went it was useless.

wkillgs: There is a plug with the 2 connectors 90 degrees from each other, but the trans only has one terminal. It was too oily to see if one had broken off.

66Electrafied: The 67 isn't for the Wildcat, it's for my old 65 LeSabre that I rescued from the farm. The 65's 300 is very seized and the trans (ST300) is questionable and the diff was full of water.

From the shape of the pan, that's a TH400.

That 65 will be a sweet ride; - I just checked over the options list for 67 LeSabre and the 340 4BBl would come with the TH400 Switch-pitch. It was called the LeSabre "400". If the 67 powertrain is running, you've got a real score!

I have been thinking about a radical approach. Instead of pulling and dropping the motor, dropping my 65 body onto this frame with drivetrain in place. This would save me from all the repairs the 65 rotted frame and undercarriage needs.

    - It should bolt up; they used that design from 1965 to 1968.
    Probably not a bad idea!

That's what I was hoping to hear. When I looked underneath everything looked the same. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to do it.

A buddy of mine was able to hoist a body off using an engine crane and some engine stands. He used the crane to lift, and the engine stands at either end to actually support the body and roll it away. Rickety sure, but it worked. The key thing is to have the body gutted, otherwise it might be too heavy for one engine crane. Use synthetic straps instead of chain, it's easier on the bodywork. All you need is a couple inches to get the frame to roll away.

He didn't wreck the crane and all, it was all my stuff that I loaned him, and it still works perfectly.

    Good Luck!

That gives me an idea. I was thinking of using my tow truck boom, but to use the truck and a engine crane one on either side. I have lots of time to think about it, because winters almost here and I want to do it outside, so it'll have to be next spring. Thanks for the suggestion.

Here's one way of doing it. This was a complete car with a 350 in it, and amazingly it wasn't damaged. I checked afterwards and the doors still worked ok, and no cracked windshield. The truck driver said he picked them up like this all the time.
