Mustang GT goes DOWN with a Duramax!!!!!

Ok here in this lane a newer mustang GT stick with a few tricks. In the other lane a 2002 Chevy 4WD 4dr (Crew Cab) 2500HD with a Duramax/Allison trans, it has a computer chip and a K&N air filter and is in 4WD high. ANyway picture this .... At the dragstrip everyone watching, lights come down, and off they go the mustang spins his tires the Duramax is nearly tearing the front axle out off the line with all the torque and as it gets into high gear the truck is in front and holds the lead all the way to end of the 1/4 mile :moonu: :moonu:

Final score....
Mustang 14.45 92 mph
Duramax 14.29 99 mph

Talk about paddling his butt thru the 1/4 mile :spank: :spank:

I saw the video of it last night!!!! I guess the mustanger left the track after that:eek2: :eek2:

I was at 20 mph and stomped it and it was sliding the tires thru 4th gear I was laughing my butt off..:laugh: :laugh:

I have seen it in Cars for sale here, but I have recently changed jobs and have a minimum of "disposable income" ( read none). If you, by some stroke of luck, (good for me, Bad for you), still have it after I get my tax return, I will definitely be ringing you up. I may have to compete with my bro on it though. As far as the video that would be great to see. The local diesel shop in our home town (Twin Rivers Diesel , North Platte, NE) has had a Duramax on their chassis dyno that cranked out over a 1000 ft lbs tourqe.:jd:

 

I'd be interested to see the rest of the time slips. There's something strange about a 14.45 @ only 92 mph. We have enough racers here to know that.

A 14.29 @ 99 sounds fine to me, in fact that sounds like a lot of either top end, or not a lot of traction. My 13.43 was only 1 mph faster. When I ran a 13.98 before the posi, headers, exhaust, CA's, air bag, etc... it was at 96.8. But that's pretty much a totally efficient run.

Most newer Mustangs aren't that efficient, especially with a racer that doesn't have lots of experience with the car. I'd expect an ET like that to be accompanied by a mph closer to the duramax truck, if not even more.

My stock 86 5.0 went 14.48 @ 96 mph. My stock 88 5.0 went 14.11 @ 98 mph. I know the newer 4.6's are more about the top end than the old 5.0's.

Doesn't this seem strange to anyone else, especially given the newer cars hp @ higher rpm vs low end tq (albeit nothing compared to the BBB)?

Eh..My buddys 99 GT runs 13s with just catback exhaust and a cold air kit, So the Mustang probably had traction control and overdrive on...Ive seen a Duramax get beat by ALOT of cars at the Legal drags (IHRA Midnight drag, no clock) SUch as a DSM, Lightning, anda 80s Corvette that usually runs 14.6s.
Im not saying anyones lieing...Just cant believe the truck is stock.
