i was there today too! seen many gs's and gsx's! seen a nice '70 sportwagon running on the track, awesome! where i live,i never see any buicks at cruise or car shows what a treat today!
Couldn't make it today (and I usually do) but good to hear they had a great turn out...Couldn't ask for a nicer day! Actually, it's a pretty Buick heavy show usually - not only GN's, GS's and Wildcats, but unusual stuff - I saw a Nailhead powered Corvair gasser, and a 56 Special Gasser the last few times. Also a beautiful sleeper 63 LeSabre (hood closed, I 'd love to talk to the owner) I generally run the brackets when I go, and have run with that same Sportwagon, a few stepchild GS's, and a host of GN's . I also ran with a absolutely stunning 70 GS 455 convertible which was much faster than it had a right to be....it also took best Buick a couple years running. I don't do too many shows, but when I do this is one I try not to miss.
Hey tom,saw your GS very nice ride..mine was the black 69 4 speed, that wagon was something else man!!what a paint job
I did not drive the GS there, was 260 miles round trip, first timer at that track.Maybe next time :eek2:. I think next Sat. is Buick vs Pontiac vs Olds!
I was amazed at the amount of Buicks there today! I even trailered my Aquamist 70 Stage 1 up from LI 200 miles each way. It was a grueling day for sure but soooo worth it! I saw your black 69 GS. You actually drove my me as you were leaving I inadvertently made someone's day today. as Im walking up and down the aisles, there was a really nice black 70 Cuda 440 six pack 4 speed from Connecticut there. Stunning car. Had the elastomeric body colored bumper too! As I spoke to the owner, I told him that I remember that there was an exact duplicate of his car back in the 80's at the local street racing/ hangout scene in Deer Park, NY. The guy was shocked I remembered it. He says "this is that car!!". He told me that he researched the ownership history and told me the car was heavily raced on LI. I also mentioned that the guy who owed it was a mailman and the red hockey stripe wasn't on the car back them. He verified that the hockey stripe was applied later on and that the owner in the 80's was in fact a mailman. He seemed elated that someone actually remembered it from back in the day. Wow, I hadn't seen that car in 30 years! The car looked just as nice as I remembered it and the owner was a super nice guy too.
Jason seen your car today very nice! Is it all orig.? Came by several times to try and meet and ask you if you drove up.
Oh, come on, you guys are just teasing.....All words and NO PICTURES, just not right. Is it some form of cruel torture?
The 69 took it well 360 miles round trip.It was the longest by far for this one,Drive them like you stole them a.j.
As was already stated, lots of Buicks. More buicks than I have ever seen in the past. All must have been aligned for the brand as there was even a GSX on the back of the commemorative t shirt being sold.
Sorry I mised it as I usually attend and race with the FAST group. There are usually always a bunch of Buicks in the car show and a few in the brackets. I went to Yellow Bullit Nats instead to hang and cheer for some Buick buddies. BOP races at Leb Valley is this Sat the 12th. Back to Cecil Co. for the NE Buick Nats races on Friday and Saturday the 18th and 19th. Hope to see some of you guys there.
I was surprised to see so many cool gs's in one place. Last time was in bowling green. Cool 70 wagon made some nice runs too. Great time but it was bloody hot!
Come down to Cecil County Dragway on Sept 18 & 19 as Phil mentioned & you will see over 125 Buicks & some really fast racing Buicks as well!
