Prayers lifted up. I have an idea of what you are going through; my Dad has been up and down for a couple years now. His back is messed up (he's been "back halfed" twice already) and he's got an elbow that won't heal which is preventing a third back surgery.... Well, enough about that. Hang in there! K
Keith, your dad is in my prayers also. A quick update... Dad has had some set backs, 1) the stupid doctor put the tube in the wrong spot. 2) the stupid doctor used the wrong tubing, so if dad would have hooked himself up to the machine, he would leak fluids all over... and, we will NOT be paying that doctors bill & he knows it..3) Dad got an infection in his arm - from a needle used to draw blood, to make matters worst, it's the same arm he injured when he fell in the nursing home and the same arm he has his regular dialysis shunt in. The incision is still weeping a bit and had slight signs of infection. They were going to do surgery again on dad, but the decided not to, some how they switched the tubing without cutting dad again, which to me is a good thing, not sure dad could handle being knocked out again. He is home, his spirits seem to be getting better, but he is still very, very weak, he has completely lost use of his legs and his one "good" arm is getting weaker. I'll be taking him to the doctor today, to get an MRI done on his "bad" arm. Thank you all again for your thoughts & prayers. Beth
Stay at it Beth let us know how it goes today i'll say an extra prayer on the side for you and your family Greg
I can't believe the screw-ups with the doctor! You must be outraged! Take care of him and know he's in all of our prayers.
Beth, Sorry to here of the setbacks. Just know that we are all pulling for your dad to get well. His having good spirits will help.
I don't know you or your dad, but my prayers are certainly with all of you. I have been in a similar situation twice and I understand the pain you are sufferin. God bless and good luck.
Hey all, I figured I should/would do a quick update. Dad is home (again) and has the machine with him, he is not on the renial (sp?) diet anymore, so he can eat more of what he enjoys and hopefully put on some weight. He had to go back to the hospital to have his shunt removed, they wanted it to stay in but he got such a bad infection in his arm it had to come out. They picked up a hoist of sorts to get dad in & out of bed and in & out of his wheelchair, which makes it easier on mom. Oh and we found them a van... it's a.........yikes... Dodge... ou: BUT... it has a wheelchair ramp, lift & lock downs, so it's perfect for what they need. Thanks again for all the prayers, they help lots. Beth
Still praying for you all, and if you need help in any way, just give a shout. But then you knew that.... Shari
my prayers are still coming beth!! i hope he gets better very soon "yikes:...a Dodge?? remember...my truck is a Dodge too if it's a 318,or 360, will get pretty good mileage
Beth, I will continue praying for him. My dad had the same thing in his arm, and later on his chest. He got an infection also, i think everyone gets an infectino but its one of those things that needs to go in.
Wishing you all the best..... Beth, Wishing you and your family the best. You are all in our prayers also. Please let us know if there is any way we can help out at all. John
Thanks again all for the thoughts & prayers... I got a call about lunch time yesterday... Dad's back in the hospital this time in ICU He was having trouble breathing and his body just started to puff up... I'm starting to not like this new machine, they just can't seem to get it programed right. Instead of it leaving 500ml in him the machine took out 500 and left in approx. 2000 in him... that's NOT good. All of the toxins were still in him, and because of that his carbon minoxide (I can't spell) level in his blood was sky high & cause him to see & hear things that were not there. His blood sugar level was also 1500 at one point yesterday, the lowest they had gotten it was 600...those numbers are way to high...but they say that is from this mega infection in his arm. They did some tests last night & one came back showing a blood clot in his lungs, but dad's nurse told mom & I that sometimes that test shows a false postivie so they took him for a chest cat scan. I came home as they took dad down to do the test, so I'm not sure what it showed. Please keep prayin' for dad. Beth
Praying hard, here Beth. You also know that if you need anything, Loyd and I are here for you. Please take care... Shari
