Since it looks like Tom has got a new addition to his family, it seems as though he needs a tow vehicle. He thinks an '84 Celebrity Wagon is enough to do the trick, but I'd much rather see him step up to something with a little more muscle. I found this on EBay, and think it's perfect for Tom ....... :moonu: Tom's Tow Vehicle
He is kinda Hell-bent on using the power-team out of the Celebrity tho ...... I'm sure the 2.8HO will have enough grunt to get things up to expressway speeds by about the time he hits the east side of the state ........ :bglasses:
powertrain Ok, we have a 2.8 and a 3.1 so we're up to a 5.9 for powering that thing. Any other offers to add? Anyone? Buehler?
Did you see where it was located! That is awful close to Rob Clary's stomping grounds! You look at that truck and what Rob is pulling with and you see why he has to haul to Michigan to race. He simply outclasses everyone in that neck of the woods with his tow rig alone!
We've finally talked Tom out of towing with a 1/8 ton Chevy Luv truck. We think he may have the bug for a 3/4 ton Ford, but this is how he plans on loading his car. ou: One thing ata time, I guess .........
Maybe he was changing a flat? Saw one worse than that down at Osceola Dragway a couple of weeks ago. A guy had the truck backed up onto a set of ramps(higher than the truck in the picture) and then off the back of the trailer he had these really short like 2 foot steel ramp's and then stuck in the wrung's of the steel ramps he had about 10 foot 2x8's:eek2: Pretty scary lookin' mess It was a junk commercial or home built(cobbled)trailer. I swear the deck was over 3 foot highou: Way over the top's of the trailer tire'sou: ou: ou:
HEYYY! Hey stop that ,that was me and my new trailer !!! I bought it from JED BODIN . He said the extra lumber would help the value and make other people jealous!! o No: Don't pick on what you can't have TOM!!!
Isn't it amazing that some guys will use any means to get their car/cars to a race? I mean some guys don't care how goofy they looko No: Now someone like myself would only use the latest and most modern towing techniquesou:
Mike, I have some video of your triple tow rig at Bristol a couple years ago. I have never seen anything like that before or since.
But would you really want to see that in a magazine? You know how those media whores are, they'll hook up (pun attended) with any magazine to get their pic in there. :moonu:
TRAILERS!!!! WE DON'T NEED NO STEENKING TRAILERS!!! Of course, I'm not one of the "competitive" entrants either..
You could buy that wagon, buy a 383 GM crate motor to put in it, and a hitch, and have a SA 327 towing beast. Of course, i'd put some AR TT-II 17's on it, and tint the windows... tilt wheel and tunes... cool J
Why not go all the way, Jim? Slam it, put in the bouncy, bouncy hydraulics, and top it off with dual fart pipes with flame throwers.
Thanks for the help,but......... I found what I was looking for up by Grand Rapids. It's a 71 Buick Estate Wagon, fresh from Texas, 1 owner, original paint(getting thin on top surfaces) 455/TH400 3.08 Posi. A.C., Brown with cream top, rally wheel's:TU:
