1970 and 1971 Stage 1 for auction on the Tuesday , no pictures yet and not much info, just wondering if anyone knows anything about these cars, the 1970 is a blue car with black interior, auto with air, nothing on the 1971
They finally posted pictures of the '70 today. https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0122-486218/1970-buick-gs-stage-1/
Another Stratomist Blue car that goes across on Saturday the 16th is this 1971 GS convertible. One of 656 GS convertible with a 350 engine. The window sticker is posted below. Should my takeaways be that the bucket seats and console were added as well as the N-25 exhaust tips?
Wow!!! A numbers matching 65 Riviera Gran Sport LX code dual quad 425 super Wildcat V8 went for $91K........ Nice!! 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport | J111 | Kissimmee 2022 (mecum.com)
Original owner of the Riv was Max Balchowsky. Interesting guy . Stuntman, racer and builder. Did the work on the 2 Mustangs used in the movie Bullit. On his business card it said V8 Buicks and Corvettes.
And builder of the baddest Buick roadrace car in history. Who also taught Tommy Ivo how to port nailhead heads.
Nice history on that car. There is another loaded black on black 65 Riviera Gran Sport LX code dual quad 425 going on later in the auction. It has estimate $90-$110K. I wonder what that one will hit. There are a lot of Buicks at this auction. 1965 Buick Riviera GS | T237 | Kissimmee 2022 (mecum.com)
I think the black one was on BAT recently… Patrick https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1965-buick-gran-sport-4/
This car was on BAT last month and was no sale at $65,500. Seems that Max owned it until June of 65, and sold it with about 5k miles on it. Subsequent owner had the sunroof put in, and another subsequent owner had the "made for" tag made, likely to capitalize on Max's previous ownership.
