This car is coming up at Indy next month and I would love to be a player but I’m baffle by it, which is a bad sign.
First of all, 22,000 miles, then it’s a frame off restoration, but missing the fender badges, missing sport mirrors, it has Lexus door panels but no power windows and no pictures of under hood or back, side underneath etc.And if you look close at the interior pic it looks like the back seat bottom is missing?
I would be trying to showcase a frame off GS like this trying to get top money....what gives? 72C1D393-2BD4-4E86-BCF5-1273346D9FAA.png 24B357E9-C1C7-4464-AC66-02273DAC2E9D.png 4A50EA75-06FF-4D36-A207-F07A336C585E.png

Idk enough on '73-4 but yes, I'd think a lot more pics & the docs mentioned would help w/marketing it. Nice color combo. If orig. mi. & checks out could be a nice find but you raise some good questions. I would think PW & sport mirrors would have been optional.

That would be great because I’m really interested but not going to be able to go in person to see it. So if he can PM me and give me lots of info it would sure help his sale.

Seem to recall Luxus door panels on other 1974 Gran Sports

Yes but I thought part of the Luxus pkg was also power windows.

I don't see any references on here as to how to add the Luxus package to a Gran Sport but PW & sport mirrors were optional. 1974_order_form.jpg

From page 10 on 73 and up. 74 S1. Same door panel but can't read the emblem. Crank windows.

Luxus did not give you PW, that was optional.
Gran Sport option did not include D35 Sport mirrors ,you had to order them or you received standard chrome mirror on drivers door like this Gran Sport.
This car should have Stage 1 front fender emblems, otherwise looks good.

So, yes, this is my car. I will fill in all the blanks.

First if all, my best friends brother ordered the car in January 1974 from the dealership that his brother and I worked at. He was the parts manager and I was a service tech. So Jim ordered the car, and it didn't show up until September, and he wasn't going to take it since by now it was a year old! Plus, he had ordered swivel buckets and 15" chrome wheels and the car came through with steel wheels ( original spare still in the trunk ) and standard buckets. And, it was missing the fender Stage 1 emblems. I know this for a fact since I was working in the dealership the day it came in off the truck, and there have never been Stage 1 emblems on the car. It has the original sheet metal too and you would see that there has never been any holes drilled in them. I chose to leave them off since the car never had them. As a follow-up, I had Denny Manner go to the Sloan Museum and research it for me. It was built June 19, and there were 4 more Stage 1s built the following day, and that was the end of Stage 1 production. It may very well be the last Stage 1 in existence since these cars didn't have a high survival rate.

The car has been sitting for 40 + years in Jim's garage. He had a major life- changing event in 1976 or 1977 and the car was untouched since then. It has the original mirrors, the original door panels, original carpet and the seats have never been reupholstered, they are perfect original. With the car sitting untouched for all these years, it developed surface rust on the undercarriage and the only RIGHT way to bring the car back was to take it apart. It has never had any floor panels or trunk floor replacement, they too are VERY nice originals. All original sheet metal too, except for the hood that the stripper ruined. ( A familiar story, huh? ) But I found a good one at Desert Valley in Arizona. I have a good story or two about the car from all those years ago if anyone is interested!

When I decided in January to put the car up for auction, well, it sits in the back of the warehouse under cover and surrounded by other cars. I had to use the few pics that I had and run with them. Now that spring is finally here I will be adding more photos for them to upload.

Wow great story, thanks very much! Can you add anything about rebuild of motor, tranny? Or Trim tag pics and ViN?

It was as solid and rust-free as one could hope for.The original lacquer paint was the problem.
