My personal opinion is that if your going to call someone out for something that you say they wronged you on, you really need to take ownership for your claim.
Hiding behind a false name to call someone out is well, rather chicken sh**

If you would post up in your name, I bet there are any number of people who can be willing to help you out. me included

Yep, Mark is right, Curt may be a problem but hiding info is almost as bad as doing what he is being accused of.
Kinda like the Boss/Manager that knows someone that works for him/her is doing something unacceptable and not doing anything about it.
I had Curt do some wheels for me, and took longer that expected, Mark Lob stepped in to check on them for me, but the product was "just ok" eventually, i'm not going to say anything bad about him, but there are now some alternatives out there, that you can count on! His name is on my yellow car! His wheels will be on it and the next one!

I have been doing buisness with Curt for a few years now and he has always come through for me with a decent product at a fair price. I remember when i got my First set of wheels from him and i to got frustrated with the lack of communiction, I just kept calling until we got together
and got it worked out. I have gotten to know Curt better over the time and i just know he will get them done and will get back to me when they are. During the year i know he does lots of swap meets so he is on the road quite a bit and he is a one man show. He is not the fastest and he does need to work on his communication but he is a good guy in my books. This is just my opinion.

Curt may be the nicest guy and he may do some good work....but, if there are alternatives and you have a deadline......consider them first. I sent him three NOS Motor Wheel centers to make me 15x7's....UBER RARE 5" bolt circle ones.
After literally months of trying to contact him i finally get a story about the rims being out of stock and the company only occasionally does runs of them,he's at swap meet trips....ect.........he finally delivers them to me at the Indy Mopar swap meet.

They look great and you can see pictures of them in the Wildcat Challenge thread.....BUT, he tells me.....you need to run the one in the box with the "x" on it on the rear of your car.......
Turns out he did not get the center welded in straight...so to "fix" it instead of cutting it out and putting it on a new rim correctly.......he shave's the mounting surface on the inside at an angle a few thousand'ths(i'll post a pic). Now it runs true down the center of the wheel but the outer/inner edges have a wobble when they are spinning. Real nice....NOT.

Before i saw how bad the that one was on the balancing machine....i had sent him a NOS 15x6 Spyder and was going to have him make it another 7 incher for me by cutting out the center and re-hooping it.I was going to make my other used 15x6 the wheel for the spare.......
After i saw the bad wheel i did not want to risk another wheel coming out wrong so i decided to just run the 15x6 as my fronts.

I asked for my wheel back....well, actually left messages as i could not contact him directly. I had sent the wheel to him in an American Racing(R/W/B) Wheel box that was double lined by me to protect in shipment. When i finally got the wheel back several months later(actually had to leave a message that i was coming to see him soon:Brow:) it was finally shipped back to me in a flimsy brown box and was all covered in months of soot, grit and other welding shop pollution(you ever been in one?) if you know what i mean.Did'nt even wipe the thing down.
He did refund ALL my money so i have no problems there.

All that being said.....and it is all the truth.....and correct me if it's not Curt.

I just wanted to say the one time we were face to face.......he seemed like a REALLY nice likeable fellow.

If you are close like Mark and you can do business with Curt on a personal level(eye to eye)....that might be the BEST way to do business with McWheels......i'll have two on my new Buick.

    Peace WildBill

    Thanks Mark!

I appreciate the feedback. It seems as though you're on a personal level with curt.

If that is a correct statement. Could you please inform McWheels to contact his current customers whom have given him their money in exchange for work that is not completed yet.

I know our v8buick community will greatly appreciate this. Thus, I could finally remove/revoke all this negative publicity form Buick/Chevy/Pontiac/Olds/Mopar/Ford/AMC forums.

BTW: There appears to be a pattern with a lot of similar stories to the one I share.

I want to thank everyone on this forum for their help.

You do need to identify yourself and take ownership of your posts as it sounds as if you are already a member
here and making posts in this thread using an alias.

I'm not piling on McWheels....just relating my past experience with him for other V8 members.

I do plan on revealing my identity.

    No worries.

---------- Post added at 12:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:31 PM ----------

I will reveal my true identity when I receive a phone call from mcwheel to update my status or rims in the mail.

I am sure all of you can relate to the situation of question.

Picture this scenario: The weather is changing for the better, you can't drive your car because you have no rims (have not had any rims or the money you paid for them in a long time with no updates/communications). Perhaps our fellow hobbyists can appreciate this.

There is absolutely no reason to reveal your identity to anybody here. the vendor has dropped the ball and should be ashamed. by not revealing who you are you may be helping multiple people who are in the same situation because he cant tell who exactly is complaining. thus he may work to get caught up on all the backlog.

I just want everyone to know that I am literally 7 miles from Curt. I have never met him, but would be glad to help him in any way I can improve his business and communication.

I am into restorations not necessarily speed only. I have a 1970 Wildcat and I will run 3 nice used 15 x 6's and one NOS 15 x 6. I find going after rare parts and/or having parts modified a poor use of my time but I appreciate we all want wider wheels.

Anyway, I had no idea he was so close until a Buick friend of mine dealt with "mcWheels in Slater, Iowa. I am in Madrid, next town over. Be glad to help.

I've never seen such a childish rant. The moderator should check in and delete your posts IMO. Look, we are talking about car wheels here, no life and death. I'll tell you what, you send me your name and address by PM, and I will pay you out of my pocket for the wheels that Curt has, by PayPla, instant, then you can go get another set to send off to a vendor with a better reputation.

Then, come back in and self delete these posts. I mean geez, I have made a few enemies in my time but they always know my name. McWheels isn't going to damage your wheels because you said something bad about him. Wow.

By the way here is my information:

FWIW, I too had the exact same negative experience. I received a full refund and went elsewhere with my business. The big problem here is ,a buyer sends a respectable amount of money to an individual they dont know from Adam. And when you cannot make contact with said individual who has your money it gets a little nerving. The only thing that kept me from considering my money gone forever, at that time was, reassuring words from people who did business with him in the past.

    436'd Skylark Sweet Fancy Moses!!!!!

Holy Cow. This original thread is 5 yrs old. 5 years later and Curt still hasn't figured out how to run a business. I can understand dealing with some issues and learning a couple of lessons on the way, but 5 yrs later and his business practices have not improved at all. At this point I doubt they will. Sad really.

    Well said.

They say time heals all wounds, but I'm not over my experience either. After many years in this car hobby, buying, restoring, and selling cars and parts, this deal was the one bad one that I will never forget, nor will I ever keep quiet, or walk away from kicking the dead horse that this ordeal was.

This whole thread is like trying to teach a child not to touch a hot stove, or it will burn you. People are standing in line watching people walk up to the stove and get their hand burnt, and they still walk up and touch it themselves to see if it's really that hot????????????????? DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

And you pro-mcwheels people, good for you if you had a good experience. Of my 4 wheels, the best took just under a POUND of weight to balance, the worst a pound and 3/4.....YOU READ THAT RIGHT! And no, it wasn't the tires or the balancing machine.

    wheelz 'B' is for Buick.

Ok now. As an option,. . .I believe I've heard or read or was told. . .STEVE CARUSO of this group, is doing wheel restorations now! Look him up before you move on!

    staged70 RIP

My experience is that if Steve says he can get it done its done. He used my original Stage 1 fuel line to make a repo and when he sent my original back and 2 of the repo pieces you could not tell which was which except his looked NEW. I have several of his repo parts on my 72 Stage 1
