I'm looking to rebuild a 350 I've got but I have the turbo 350 that goes with it but my car is already a stick and I don't want to go through the process of converting from stick > auto + I like a stick tranny more (haha that sounded wrong).

I have a Saginaw that should probably have a kit put in it. No chunks and very little fine shavings when drained.

I'm funcused a bit. You HAVE a stick already, RIGHT? but IT APPEARS you want another MANUAL tranny anyhow?? help us understand... btw: I have a very good rebuilder Muncie trans...its together, but was torn down at one time to be rebuilt...just needs a rebuild kit to make it new...$450... CHEAPEST MUNCIE you'll find these days..!! :3gears: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

I think he means his car is already set up for stick, just doesn't have the actual manual trans to drop in.

Well I have the original straight six and manual trans from 1969 but if I put a 350, wouldn't I need a heftier manual trans (and would the bolt patterns match because the straight six Buick used is actually a Chevy engine) Or am I just being retarded? I'm not all-knowledgeable yet haha I'm only 15 and this is my first car which I got last week so sorry if theres some confusion.

HI. I believe your 6 CYL motor had a 3 speed tranny originally. Dont recall ever seeing a manual 6cyl car with a 4 speed...NOT SAYING it could happen, I've just never seen one. That being said...IF it is indeed a 3 speed tranny, AND COLUMN SHIFT I PRESUME??? :3gears: it is more'n likely an iron case Saginaw and that iron case saginaw tranny will handle any stock 350 engine. HOWEVER...you will need a Buick bellhousing, 350 flywheel, "Z" bar, linkages, different steering column, driveshaft, cross member, etc... FYI, you DO have a big job ahead of you and know that we are here to help!! :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

Alright... I know just about nothing about transmissions so here are a few (maybe dumb) questions. Could I take the bellhousing off of a powerglyde I have and use that with this setup (by chance)? What is a "Z" bar and what does it do? and, most importantly, do you think the jump from a straight six to a 350 would be worth the like $3000+ for the complete engine rebuild and tranny parts? Thanks

    And to be clear...
I have a 1969 Buick Special Deluxe with all original chevy straight six 250ci 155hp (or 165hp idr) and the 3 speed stick in the tree. I'm talking about replacing the straight six with a 350 and keeping the same tranny (3 speed in the tree).

ummm... gosh, have you got me funcused now!! :Do No: Ya see, "Powerglide" and "BELLHOUSING" are not synonymous.... the "Powerglide" is an automatic trans and doesnt actually have a bellhousing, per'se. Well, it does, BUT... the bell housing is part of the transmission body on the Pwr'Glide.. . . Manual trannies use a separate bellhousing...AND furthermore, a chevy 6Cyl bellhousing WILL NOT WORK on a Buick motor. :bla: Have I made all this worser or better understanding now??? If you want a 350 buick to work in your car. I have most of the parts.
Parts you need bellhousing, flywheel,z bar, block ball, push rod from pedal,
350 frame mounts ,3 speed floor shifter from442 but no shifter rods or mounting plate and fan shroud 68/69 think 70shroud will also work.
Price for all above $575 plus shipping if you are interested.
You would be using your trans

Didn't the 3 speeds in 69 all come as a full syncro. I believe it was a muncie
    3 speed. A tough tranny.
