The old one was pretty grimy but this one cleaned up well. The only leak I saw was from the rear seal with the wiped bushing. It felt a lot tighter than my old one. Crossing my fingers.

Hi, I just took out fourth gear and busted the front of my case on my Muncie. It is not original to my car. It is the M20.
I am having the trans rebuilt with a new gear set but I am thinking about going with the M21 close ratio gear set.
Why did you change from an M21 to M20?
You mentioned that you like the new lower gear ratio of the M20 vs the M21mfor better starts.
My 455 engine has a lot of low end torque so I would think the 2.20 first gear ratio of the M21 would be better for me.
I have the stock 3.42 rear end gears.
    Thanks for your replies.

I have a 350 with 3.08 gears. The 350 has plenty of torque but 2.20 first paired with 3.08 rear makes for a rough start. It felt like I was taking off in second and needed to slip the clutch more. By swapping to the M20, it effectively made it feel like 3.55 gears in furst.

With a torquy 455, I don't think you would need a close ratio. Personal preference.
