Awesome work and great project. Can't wait to see it done.

Great looking build. It is going to be a sweet car when back together. Hopefully the cam supply situation improves soon. Keep posting on your progress. I had seen you post on the radiator as well. You really can not add any overall size to the radiator as you are trapped with that core support dimension. It is what it is on the 64' to 67' A body cars. While you could totally cut up and modify the core support you are stuck with the front frame rails that only have so much room between them. One of the biggest differences between 64' to 67' A body chassis and the 68' to 72' A body chassis is that the 64' to 67' have straight parallel frame rails forward of the control arm mounts. The 68' to 72' rails joggle out to allow a much wider core support and radiator opening. You just have to work with what you have. I suggest a good quality 2 core of 1" or 1.25" tube aluminum radiator. Use a good 18" mechanical fan and shroud. I also suggest you invest in a T/A high flow water pump or a Flo Kooler High flow water pump. The biggest improvement in cooling I accomplished was going to a high flow water pump. Looking forward to seeing more on your car.

I concur. Jared, if you splay out the chassis mounts, and expand the core support, I need to see all of those pics, Wow! I have a similar "dream"
Jim's working on an engine for me as well and thought a good Aluminum radiator would be fine.
    Can't believe I missed this 67' 4-sp build. I need to follow.
    Keep the vision!

    Good morning fellas,

I haven’t reported back in a couple of months so figured I’d drop an update.

With Jim’s continued patience, we’ve been able to acquire not only a roller camshaft, but roller rockers as well. I’m just waiting to hear back from Jim regarding which route we’re going in regard to the Lifters… Comp Cams has a new line of roller lifters out, but it’s a fairly new product and I’m thinking they’re relatively untested.

I’m overseas again, so the car itself is wrapped in plastic in my garage, but I’ve made some progress on parts selection.

For you ‘67 guys who are trying to fit larger radiators: the AE412DP from Champion radiators did NOT fit. That radiator is for a mid-70’s Nova and the advertised dimensions made me think I could squeeze it in. Unfortunately though it was about 1/4” wider than the company told me it would be, so it would not sit inside the core support.
However, Champion has been really great to work with. They allowed a full exchange and even paid for the shipping to get the old radiator back to them…. Now I’ve had an AE571 delivered to the house (I haven’t seen it yet) which is the part number that my application calls for. It has the same overall core dimensions as the factory radiator, but I’ve ordered a twin-core, “dual pass” model and am hoping that with aluminum heads, and a brand new engine that everything will be efficient enough to stay cool.

I’ve given it a lot of thought, and am now planning to go with a stock-appearance under the hood. So will still be a full roller motor, with SE2 heads and B4B, but will paint it all Buick red, add factory 400 valve covers, and run the 800CFM Q-Jet and StarWars air cleaner. I plan to use black pulleys, and then paint the aluminum radiator and fan shroud black using Eastwood “radiator paint” and then add a 16” electric fan (if it doesn’t stay cool, I’ll switch to an 18” mechanical).

Here’s some pics I snapped of the progress before I left a couple of months ago.

I still need to build a fuel system. I know Jim is sending a RobbMC 550hp fuel pump. I’m thinking -10AN feed line and -8AN return line. I haven’t chosen which filters or which regulator to use OR whether or not to replace the fuel tank.

I’m completely open to suggestions on all accounts.

Do the opposite, -8 feed line and -10 return. Return needs to be same size as feed or bigger. This is how I did mine.

I haven't updated this thread in over a year! That's how stagnant the progress has been on the build. However, Jim tells me the motor will be finished in a couple of weeks. Here's a shot of the 'ol girl being being hauled out of the garage and transported to a friend's garage for storage. I had to do that because I've moved to Tampa, FL since the last time this thread was updated.

Can anyone recommend an exceptional auto restoration guy in the Central//South Florida region who would do top-quality work at installing this engine, and getting the car back on the road?

Hi Jared, and welcome to the Tampa Bay area!

Check with Fernando (Alvare Racing on here). He knows a lot about the Buick folks around here. There are a few other members from this area too that may know.
