It's a shame to see this car for sale. The purchaser seemed genuine in his story, but at the end of the day... it's just a story. My brother and I were hoping that it would be fully restored. It's a neat car, I have a soft spot for these. Wish I had the 50k(+) to do it.

Yes 50 K and a lot of rare parts and patience. I wish they would make quality 69 quarters and outer wheelhouses for hard tops and convertibles but that will not happen there just isn't the numbers needed for the tooling costs necessary plus its a one year only part.

The guys got a lot of different type of car parts he probably never was looking to fix it in first place. The question that arises do the majority of these condition cars get parted or actually restored?

Based on the prices, you're probably correct.

All the car really needed was a clean rust free west coast donor body.

Sounds like you have a nice collection of Buick's can't wait to see the pictures of the 51 Buick. You're 69 had all the right parts all someone needed to do was buy a donor car an purchased the 69 from you. You can bet there's plenty of cars going over the block at auctions with donor parts on them.

Another stepchild lost is still lost if it is rebodied.

At least this way we've avoided any possible future fraudulent activity...

That Car needed so much sheet-metal it would be better off locating a rust free body. Then trying to piece it together one part at a time if you can locate them.

Obviously there are people that think repairing / replacing sheetmtal can't possibly be done to the level Flint did things in '69. We've seen countless examples right on this site where talented men can brought back better. To suggest that a rebody is somehow the only solution of quality is to belittle those amazing restorations.
