I'd like to to pick up a low gearset for a TH400, either a 2.75 or 3.00 first would work. Let me know what you may have.
    Thanks

If you do a lower 1st gear, get the 2nd gear too. I’ve seen too many failures with just the 1st swapped by itself.

The only ones I've used lowers both gears, 2.75 or 3.00 for first and 1.57 for second. They are not nearly as strong as the factory gears, but work great in certain applications.
    Thanks

The 1:57 is better than leaving the 1:48 in there. There was a member on this site that was selling a complete TH400 already done with that cluster in it. He is up in the northeastern US. He might still have it.

A 700r swap would do it,....with the constant psi valve body they are becoming popular again

The 1-2 spread in the 700 is very unfavorable....1st gear feels great the 2nd feels like the anchor came out

I have a 2.75 low gear set for T400 for sale. I think ATI or TCI. Paid like $750.

I will take that, can you get a shipping quote to 84701 in Utah? If you take the shaft out of the rear ring gear, I bet it would fit in a large USPS flat rate box. That would be the cheapest by far.
    Thanks

I have built alot of 700's over the years and I really don't like them. You have to spend twice as much money as a th350 just to barely get it as strong as one. I really like using a low gear set in a th350 or th400 with a 3.08ish rear gear, makes for a nice street friendly combo and honestly, most people don't need an overdrive. However, most people have been convinced they do, lol. When power levels get high a th400 just can't be beat.
    Thanks

I'm checking with my best friend, I think he has one that he's not using. I'll let you know something as soon he checks his stash.
