Low Fuel Pressure

Went to take the car out for a spin & couldn't keep it running. I got it back in the garage & popped the hood & noticed that the fuel pressure was around 2-3 psi. This seemed to happen overnight because the car was running great last time I had it out (about a month ago). I also notice that there is allot of air blowing out from front vent tube. If I put my finger over it, pressure builds up instantly & the car stalls. Carb is a Holley 850 DP.

So far I pulled the carb & disassembled it checking all of the usual parts. Float & needle valve look good & hold pressure. Power valve OK. I pulled the fuel pump (Robb MC style) it seems to be OK, only a few years old. 2 Fuel filters in line, before & after the pump. I cleaned both, they seem to be OK. The one before the pump had allot of what looked to be rubber shavings? I swapped the pressure gauge with a new one it still reads the same.

What else is there? I will be checking the lines today, maybe I'm sucking air? Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Ken

I like your last comment; I'm also wondering if air is getting into the suction side of the pump somehow.

That was my first instinct as well. Look for hard and/or cracked hoses.

Must have been a loose fitting. I put it all back together & checked all of the fittings & it's back up to 6 psi. The only fitting that didn't seem right was at the first fuel filter. It looks like the hose wasn't seated all the way into the AN fitting so I re-terminated it. Anyway, back on the road!

    Thanks for the replies,
    Ken
