ok... both heads are off and #7 piston out. Pictures at the link below. I know this isn't classifieds, but I need one stock left hand side 401 piston in good shape to replace this one. I also need one set of stock piston rings. I realize that 99% of members here would replace everything while they have the bottom end out, but I am on a budget, and just need her to run properly. I bought this car because it was what I could afford, and I have learned so much from her. The experience I am getting is irreplaceable, and although she may not be my forever car, she will always be my first real project car. The help that you all have given me has been amazing, and I am truly grateful for all of it! If you have any of the parts I need please pm me. Thanks! https://photos.app.goo.gl/rxka6TbeQjiE6Efd7
Chad, I have a piston and rod assembly marked #3 from a 1965 stock bore 401 (right side on a Nailhead). That should not matter side to side as the oil spurt hole will be inward along with the valve relief when you turn it 180* on the other side. The engine had a similar fate as yours, but it wiped out the cylinder when it let go. The pin is not stuck in the piston and is not too loose. The engine ran well with no smoke, but I would use new rings and your bearing. Then with a ridge ream and a hone your cheaply job is done. It is easier to respond here as it is harder to upload pictures in PM. How about $10 and the cost of shipping. PM me if interested? Cheryl
Good morning everyone! I am glad to report that my LeSabre is back together and running smoothly. I apologize for not updating last week, but I've been super busy, and didnt have time. Huge thanks to @Babeola and especially to @Thumper (aka greatscat) for all the help given! Below is a link to the successful startup last week. She's in storage now and go there under her own power. thanks again! https://photos.app.goo.gl/C7ejksPi9naNafUy5
Glad to help, I have a soft spot for the early 60s nailheads. First family Buick was a 62 LeSabre and I took my driver test with it and street raced it, got me hooked on Buick torque.
Thats great Chad. I love it when things work out. Chad you dug into this with a passion so kudos to you too! on top of everyone's help posts
Thanks guys! I learned a ton and now am not afraid to take on larger projects. This was/has been a fantastic experience!
