My 69 gs400 8.2 rear end was disassembled when I got it. We took the cover off and no carrier bearing caps. Any ideas on the best remedy? The previous owner is looking for the caps and meanwhile I'm looking for a new rearend.

Naw, dont think so. Recently the shop I work in took a pair of 440 blocks in. Waste of my time to clean them without caps. Substitute caps were located, but so much rust in bores etc.. junk Now I seen my buddy take some billet aluminum caps and cut them until he was satisfied with bore ID. For a guys off road rear end.

Not sure where you are located but I have a bare 8.2 housing in Akron Ohio .

Do not bother looking too hard unless this is a HIGH dollar GS stage car and you are making it concorse.
No parts to rebuild it grab a Pontiac 8.2 LOOKS the same and likely stronger on the caps PLUS you can get parts for the rear 3.36-5.13 gears Posi units etc.

    Just my 2 cents...
