    Keep the faith

I cannot help your search, but keep the faith. You just never know when it will show up.:TU: There are several members from around the Youngstown area who just might know of this car.

Keep bringing this thread back up every few days or so.

I found my old Mach 1 after 25 years residing more than 1,000 miles from me. It's not for sale, but I know where it lives, and who owns it.:Brow:

Consider emailing some car clubs in the area where it was last seen.

Can the DMV do a search by VIN? I had this done on my GS that was originally sold in AR. Got a copy of the titles, for all owners. All for a buck!

    Good luck!

    Joe,

Did you ever think to post a WANTED add on Craigslist??? I have done this for parts with success and it is FREE.

    Good Luck.... very cool car.

Couple ideas for you. If the dealer that sold it new is still around, they likely have the paperwork from the purchase with vin info on it. Actually ANY dealer that it has been through would probably still have info on it. They are only required to keep it for a few years, but many dealerships start a stack in a corner and just add to it. The dealership I work for is one of them, I can get you the sales receipt from any vehicle they've sold, new or used, since 1965.

If that doesn't work you need to hit the DMV and see if they can search by name. I dunno if they can do that, that stuff varies from state to state, but you should ask, because the DMV keeps records for a LONG time.

This is a situation where you should not give up hope. Many people look for cars that vanished 25 years ago, and their odds are slim. If yours was seen within the last couple years, it has escaped the decade of "old junk car" and is probably owned by someone with no intention of crushing it. It still exists, therefore, it can be found. Getting the VIN info would help a lot. Local wanted ads in the paper, craigslist, and simply passing the word around local clubs is virtually free exposure. Find whoever organizes the local car shows and ask them if tey know anyone who knows anyone, etc. It's still around, and SOMEONE knows where it is. Whether it can be bought when you find it, who knows. But you have better odds here than most. I wish you luck and hope to someday read that you found it. I like these stories and could share a couple from locals who succeeded. :beer
