One minute it was in my hand the next I can't find it after searching for an hour.

The two bolts that hold the rag joint together are different size with long shoulders. I have the bigger one and I still have both nuts but I cannot find the smaller bolt. This is the one that goes through the strap that electrically connects the steering column to the car.

It goes at the 12 or 6 o'clock position in this example:

Not that I'm picky but I can't see anything in their shouldered bolt selection that looks like a good fit. I was hoping someone knew the part at Stage 1 Resto or Cars but I've only found the pinch bolts or whole rag joints.

    I guess I'll ask Todd.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Did you try fishing around inside the front crossmember with a magnet?

Check your pockets, or where you set you last beer down. Yet most likely it is snuggled up to your missing 10mm socket!

I had it out and away from the car. It was off the big block car when I was taking it apart.

Checked all my pockets. The concrete floor is painted gray so it should stand out.

Oh well, most of the rebuild kits don't even use shouldered bolts. I'll just put a bolt with a lock nut on it like the rebuild kits.

Something you could pick up at a local scrap yard? I would think quite of few A Body cars would have the same Bolts.

Even down here, where it seems more stuff survived longer, there is nothing left “sitting “ in a yard. It goes into a pick a part, and then is squashed after six months.
You went to the trouble of sending me that trans, I can send you an entire rag joint with hardware for shipping. The rubber / old tire part of it will be no good, though. Dave S
