Hi, I don't know if I've gone crazy or not, but in the last 6 months I've bought 2 73 Stage 1's, one is a silver, black vinyl top, white bucket seat, and an automatic that was orginally sold by Al Will Buick in Longmont, CO. The other is a black, black vinyl top, white bucket seat, and a 4 speed Suncoupe, from I don't know where. I have traced the silver car back to Independence, MO in 1989 and the black car back to Arizona in 1989, there I meet a dead end. I hope somebody out there remembers these 2 cars and can help me. Thanks, Pat PS: I need some help in finding parts for the Suncoupe.

Is your Sun Coupe a manual or electric roof?

    Pat:

You need to find someone with access to a database called Accurint ... I bet you willl be able to find a prior owner based on the car's VIN or playing off a prior license plate (found in one of the older records). Accurint is a blend of consumer databases and state records and can reach back 30 or so years.

Am I hallucinating or is the interest in colonades at an all time high? I have not seen this many threads on these cars in a while. These cars really deserve respect, as one of the best Buick produced. :TU:

:TU: I have worked on many, many 68-72 GM A-body's, and although they are nice cars, they pale in comparison to the build quality of these colonades, and the colonades ride like a Caddy.

To try to answer the original question by the thread starter....I believe your black 4spd suncoupe may have came from the St Louis area, if you just bought it within tha last month or two.
I know Mike Massa had a black 4spd suncoupe in St Louis that he recently sold to John Bernardi, and I think I heard John turned around and sold it.

Talking to Pat, I believe he knows it came from Mike Massa, but he's trying to go back further than that.

I helped do the restore on the silver 1973 Stage 1 back in the 1980's in Independence Missouri, I loved that car and thought it was super rare because it had the High Altitude Carb and decal on it. I wish I owned it, and if you ever want to sell let me know. Anyway the owner back then was Jeff Harless and he is now 48 Yrs.old and still lives in Indep. Hope that helps, maybe you can contact him and he can lead you back to the person he bought it from. I would love to see current pictures.

Wow, the black suncoupe might well be the same car I found that was here in St louis area. I thought it was triple black if its not then there is another triple black one here. If memory serves me the owner stated he bought it from chjicago out pof hemmings magazine and owned it for a long time. I think bernardi sold it to him back in the day. When I found out about it I was told it was rusty and the seller would not even discuss anything under
25k for the car. You will probably have to have parts made for the Sunroof or find a parts car. I do have reprints of paperwork on this sunroof from the 73 fisher body manual

I remember Jeff's '73 Stage 1. I parked next to it at the Kansas City Shriners Car Show in Independence, MO at the Blue Ridge Mall. I believe these pictures are from '88 or '89. Back then, I owned the Burnished Cinnamon '71 GS 350. The Aqua Mist 70 GS Stage 1 belongs to Mike Garrison. PM me if you want a physical copy of these pictures. I have a couple more, but they aren't that great.

Hi Guys, I want to thank 72Stage1 and Mike Pirch for their help. I was able to find Jeff and he told me the story of how he got the car. If Mike Garrison reads this, I would like to talk to him. Also, if anyone in the Longmont, CO area remembers the car (silver/black top w/white buckets 1973 Stage 1 bought from Al Will Buick) please contact me. Thanks Again, Pat Neil

Hello, my '73 Century Gran Sport Stage 1 is finished, picked it up yesterday. Runs good, rides good, handles good, and the AC blows cold (very important here in Texas). Many thanks goes out to Jack Laswell for his tremendous work and for his putting up with me. Also thanks to the many board members who have helped me in tracing the history of this particular car. I've got the history from when I bought it back to 1984. I'm still looking for info from when it was sold in Longmont, CO in 1973 up to 1984. I need to clean it up and put a couple hundred more miles on it then take it to the track. I'll post some pictures then. I have to catch my breath then start on the black '73 Stage 1 4 speed Suncoupe. Again many thanks!

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, and if I state this and offend someone, sorry ahead of time.....but I believe Pat passed away several years ago, and the 73's in this thread were sold off by the family.
