We have a Siberian cat and she is a whole lot bigger then our Maine Coon mixes. Under all that hair (she has 3 coats) she is a skinny cat and she still weighs over 16 pounds. She is just a big long cat, with big feet that I call “Pontoon feet’.

I took a picture of Beth while she was stretching Ulla out, quite impressive.

I just googled the breeds.. The Maine coon's are suppose to be the big ones. I guess your Siberian is huge then.. Alot of hair to maintain!

With 2 Maine Coon mixes and 1 Siberian there is always cat hair around.

I figured to write a book titled “Living with Cat Hair.” You know, how to use it as a garnish, or a fashion statement, etc.

I guess that we are football enemies. I grew up in Newton and went to both the old Newton High (now Newton North) and am a plank owner in Newton South High.

    LoL!
I also just saw the "Pontoon feet" that you call them:D

I have a rescue Tux from a woman who had like 30 cats. My neighbor also got my cats 1/2 sister and is also a Tux, same Father who was a Tux, different Mother go figure?
Got her at 3 months now she's around 8. She never grew much and is a little one.
Just want to say she is short haired but lately she has been shedding like mad, I have to brush daily and always lots of hair.
I read that indoor cats don't follow a normal season cycle of shedding.
    Are your 3 cats indoors?

She might have been not even 2 years old here and still the same size.

Oh yes Newton North! Are Thanksgiving Day Football games:D I think you guys always kicked are butt.
I was 8 months old when the Family moved to are home in Brookline in 1963 we had a house in Dorchester that was starting to become a bad area.
I graduated in 1980 and I think we are close in age? I remember it as 2 High schools as Newton North and Newton South, when was the split?
I didn't play football but as a junior I placed 5 in the wrestling State finals at the 157 lb weight class.. My claim to fame lol!

We had a decent Tech building with drafting, metals and Auto mechanics.
My friend rebuilt the 389 in his 66 GTO in that class. Came out great and the teacher let him go his own way. He became a Volkswagon, Honda Master Tech..

South High opened in 1960. The original design called for a swimming pool, but the school committee didn't think that it was fair for the new high school to have a swimming pool when the old one didn't. They apparently changed their minds when they tore down the North High's four buildings (counting the field house) and built the monstrosity that you attended. The new North High was so badly laid out that Newton tore it down and replaced it with a nearly-quarter billion dollar building. With a pool.

Thats why Brookline High had a separate building for the pools, they had deep end diving pool, a Olympic 6 lane and the low end 3 to 4 foot.
Separate buildings for just about everything and a Quad for hanging out and the smokers..
Just dawned on me its because there was only one High School.

    Yes,
My cats are all indoor cats. We got all 3 from the Cat rescue that my wife Beth helps out at.

The male Maine Coon mix is Theo. He is a decent size cat but not too big, but with all the traits of the Maine coon males, clownish, likes to play, likes everybody, with the pluffy tail and bib.

He was someone’s pet that got out when the rescue found him, and I can understand that because he thinks he is Houdini and tries to get out all the time. No one claimed him so he went up for adoption.

Our other MC mix is Winnie, she is small but still has the big tail, hair etc. She was feral and never meows. They told us their mothers train feral cats to not make noise so they do not draw attention from predators. When we first got her she didn’t even know how to play or purr. She has come a long way.

Ulla was taken from a woman that had something like 52 cats and dogs. There were at least 40 cats there and the various rescues in the area all took some, as not one group could take them all. Ulla was in a cage for 4 years until we got her. She absolutely loves my wife, but has a dislike for men. It has taken 2 years for her to get comfortable with me. I often wonder what was done to her before we got her.

It always amazes/sickens me how some people can be so cruel to animals, and then to look at the other side, I am amazed by how caring the rescue people are. They give of themselves again and again and really enjoy finding homes for their “babies”.

Thats a cute story about Theo!

Nice just learned something about feral cats. I kinda knew that cats cover there droppings so other animals don't smell it and know there location, I could be wrong as they are very clean animals??

Wow 52 cats and dogs. The lady that had mine fed her 20 to 30 cats well but thats it. The ammonia smell was brutal I heard. My cats 1/2 Sister that my neighbor got had really bad eye infections and some other health issues because of it. Both were picked up and brought home in the same carrier, mine came out right away and when I brought her to my place she was instantly comfy!
My neighbors wouldn't come out and had to be pulled out after 4 hours or so.
Mine is to friendly also which is great but at times I worry because I let her into the outside hallway and she trusts everyone.

Like you said there are some strange and evil people. We all have heard that how serial killers start.:(

Thing is the cat hoarders really think they are doing good which of course their not and get overwhelmed fast.

Ulla loves only your wife LOL!
Years and years ago my Sis got a male cat who only loved her too. Oh he would let me pick him up and hang on my shoulders but as soon as she came home he would swipe me and run to her..

Down the street behind my local 7-11 there is a family of homeless cats, there was 4 but only I see 3 now. Beautiful kinda long hair, 2 all black and the other 2 are white with black spots.
I'm pretty sure they are siblings and they cuddle and hang out. I guess they survive as a family. I have a feeling someone moved and left them. cause they aren't 100% feral from what I see
I feed them behind the store and also make sure they have clean water. It's the best I can do.. Others feed them too but I clean up the cans they leave and my little dishes so no one complains.

Yeah we have a small feral female (Miss Cally, she is a calico) we feed that comes to our back porch. She has had several litters and we tried unsuccessfully many times to trap/get her fixed. We did manage to trap her entire litter one time, but she won’t bring her new babies to our house. Smart cat. (Beth names all the strays)

As a further story about the Lady that had Ulla; she also had horses which had been taken away from her earlier. I was told she cut back their hoofs to the point that they bled. Her excuse was she was afraid they would run away from her if she didn’t do that.

I would guess she was a little nuts.
    Duane

Ps, by the way in case anyone here wants to know, if you come to my back porch I will feed you. 2-footed or 4-footed I make no distinction, of course you will have to eat what I eat, but you will not leave hungry.

    Yummy, whats on the menu?:D
    I truly believe you too;)

Oh wow that lady is nuts isn't she.
Are the authority's checking on her to see if she still is hoarding?

Max Damage I'm working on it!

The cat being too friendly reminds me of my old pal Max DSCN1625.jpg

He was a stray in Boston (actually had an owner, but she didn't really care). He eventually moved in with me and rode in the Buick to Seattle with me. He lived to be well into his 20's, and was chipper until the end (on and off).

He was SUPER friendly with everyone. I once saw him rubbing on the leg of a Real Estate agent that was trying to sell a house across the street. I could see that the agent wanted to kick him away, but couldn't because the people he was selling to were all "awww" isn't he cute.

He lead a charmed life that guy, and I feel blessed to have shared a part of it.

That cat is the same colouring as ours, but ours is a vicious little b---h.
She hates people, hates being picked up, and is very high maintenance. She gets frustrated that she's living with some old humans who can't play anymore.

Here she is having a tender moment with my wife.

Wow Max was a pretty one.
Some people just don't like cats but if that Real Estate agent kicked him I bet the potential clients would walk away.
Did he have freedom in the car when you drove to Seattle or was caged?

20++ years is amazing for a outside cat.. My Aunt had a outside cat in NY that also lived into the 20's. and she had alot battles out there with squirrels mostly but cats too.
She got pregnant a little late in life in the mid 80's and had to have a C section. Cost around $600 at the time and my Uncle who was known to be Brutally frugal was furious.
    I can imagine your joy..
That is funny. She does look like Max, even the spot near the nose!! except the fangs:D

Our cat that only loved my sister was a outside cat also. People or friends would go up to him and he he would swipe them and strangers got pissed at times because he did come home on one or two occasions with a bump on his head, guessing they knee jerked reacted. I do have a feeling one of my neighbors did something because for some reason he always complained about him??

I hate to say this but I probably didn't help that when I was stupid and young my friend and I would put him in a paper bag with cat nip in it and other stupid things.
    Not proud:(
The streets got to him "Suburbs" of MA:rolleyes: and made him disappear for weeks and then finally he never came home.

I hear that when Cats decide to “move” they sometimes leave for a few days, then a few weeks, and sometimes will come back once more much later and then they will move on.

Seems like his pattern but he came back filthy a few times, my Sis thinks he would we lay down in a box van or get stuck in a basement somewhere.
The last time we saw him he stayed home for 2 weeks recouping and cleaning himself and then went out and never saw him again.

He had the run of a big house, are love and he loved my Sis. She always joked they were having a affair.. Christmas time he loved sleeping under the tree in front of the manger.
