Just to be the devil's advocate, with all the scams around, the guy might be suspicious of people asking for the complete VIN.

Have you tried asking for just the first 5 or 7 characters? Just giving it a quick glance, I picked up the fact the trunk lid was likely swapped. Looks like a nice car for the price providing its real :Do No:

Good point, which is why I asked for the first part only, explaining the last part isn't need to ID the as a true GS.

If its in Minneapolis, isnt the guy close to JW? If your really serious, maybe JW could check it out for you for a small fee?

And it wouldn't be the first time someone eccentric is selling is car. I seem to get them all the time

There's strong evidence in the pictures that its probably a real BB GS. When your looking for a particular car, every lead must be followed up on. The one car you blow off could be the one!

Cant really make out the heater controls, but its got the correct non AC dash pad with no center vent. Kick panels have the vent pull knobs too

I'm not the guy to tell if it's real or not. but that's a pretty good price for a topless numbers matching GS455. This is when I really require more disposable income.

Ok, My 71 non AC car has no vents in the dash pad. How many styles are there? The assembly manual shows two one like mine and one with 2 vents, this one has one WTH.

There are three types of pads-

Center vent and right side vent- A/C cars
No center vent and only a right side vent- non A/C hardtops and convertibles
No center vent and no right side vent- Post cars with vent windows and no A/C

The other thing was I asked if he would take a bank check, he said no cash only. I don't know about you butt meeting a stranger with $16500 cash in my pocket isn't going to happen.

Thing looks pretty original. VIN will tell the story.

I think the IRS has rules against cash transactions of $10K and more.

I don't know about the IRS, Bank have to report all withdraws over $10k.

Well, it's $3000 now and it's deposits OR withdraws. Forewarned is forearmed!

Jason, the non-AC cars with the forced flow ventilation option (look for a little switch above the radio in the radio bezel) also had the center vent pad.

That is about 40 minutes away from me. I'd be willing to go look at it for you next week.

Without looking at a map. I'd guess that it's about the same distance for JW.

Folks, its a real '70 455 Convertible. I spoke with the seller this morning and he got the title out of his safe. It's real, first 5 digits are 44667. Go get it, someone. Just check the engine and tranny numbers.
