OK, I'll go first... here's a couple shots of my dearly departed red '70, the also dearly departed tan '69, and the current project '68. I'm looking for some paint ideas for the '68, so I thought some pics on a thread here could be inspirational, so post 'em up! Thanks!
Almost forgot about Dad's later model. It's got 4500 original miles on it. Owning these cars is a sickness! Got a couple more that need finishing one day but who knows when.
Check out how good a well done two-tone can look on these cars: http://www.customrodder.com/features/0509cr_1967_buick_riviera/photo_01.html and http://www.stevecookcreations.com/67rivi_done.htm Devon
I think if I two-toned, I'd split it at the body line up from where Gil did. Just my preference. His is a very cool car... I met him when he first finished the "slamliner" - the '60 Sunliner ragtop. Another way cool car. Great pics!
Here's my pride 'n joy - the setting sun in the shot has two toned the car naturally !! There's more pics in the garage section from the many that have been taken over the years since a total restoration at Gran Sport Autobody.. . . . just click the link in my signature. Here's a YouTube link with a little more detail - enjoy !! :beer :TU: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ45bzQbIlQ
Here's few of mine. The first picture is of my 69 in 84, the year I bought it. The picture is so old, I was still living at my parents house. The second picture is my same 69 parked on the lawn in front of my house. The car was painted back to its original code 59 Lime Green a year after I graduated high school. The next picture is my white 68. Unfortunately, I dont have too many quality pictures of her. This one has been in my family since new. I remember sitting in the passenger seat and not being able to see over the dash pad!
1991 Riviera I know it's not an "old" Riv, but this has been my daily driver, (on and off) for many years. When I got divorced a year and a half ago, my "X" took the Riv. When she decided to buy a new car, rant: with all the cash I gave her to pay her off  ), I gave her $2000 for the car. That's all they were going to give her on a trade-in. It has about 115,000 miles on it now, and has been an absolute dream of a car to own. It's NEVER let me down or given me any trouble, (un-like my "X":Brow It has all the factory original paint and interior. Never had any rust. I did ditch the old white walls and the wire wheels and replaced them with the current wheel/tire combo for a sportier look. I wish all my past vehicles would have been this dependable and fun to drive!!!!!
Very true Devon! The lines lend themselves to a two tone. When I went to the Centennial, I saw the Silver Arrow in person. I was looking at the car for ten minutes before I realized it was a two tone. The two tone was so subtle. It actually made the car look like lower. Really amazing what you can do with colors applied the right way.
Here is my 66GS as i bought it last winter (second pic) - certainly not as nice as the others shown here. ok condition for the price, but needs some TLC in addition to the left front fender fatality due to parking by braille - lol. the other picture is a photoshop fabrication to give me a feel for what the 66 might look like with 17" AR TTII's - finding stock 66 wheels has been a challenge... bought another NH425 for some performance head work, etc, but the power addiction might one day push me to a 455. i like the posi burnout on that 72! :3gears:
Here is a couple of my 65 before I had to sell her.Wish I could have kept it.This was probably one of my best riding cars I ever owned.I found it rotting away in someone's front lawn with one eye opened and the other one closed.I brought it back to life and even gave her a dual quad set-up.
Here's my 73 and 75GS. Wonder if we can fill this thread with every Riviera modelyear (owned by a boardmember) o No:
