Here's one for you, dead stock, and I mean never pulled apart 71,000 miles with original plug wires on it stock, complete with oil sweat and and caked Saskatchewan farm dirt.
OK, I'll give you that it isn't anywhere near as pretty as some of the others here in this thread, - not even close. But if you look closely at the firewall, you 'll still see some of the chalk marks. This is on an uncared for and abandoned 1966 Buick Wildcat 4 door hardtop that was last registered to drive in 1985.
By the way, it runs like a Swiss watch and feels tight. (It probably will until that timing gear starts to fragment apart!)

Geekin on the offy manifold and funky headers. Carmen got it running for me.

Someone painted it red at some point.

    Weren't they red in 1966?

Yup, the factory did. It's a 425 and not a 401, which was green. The 425s were red starting, I think, in 1964. It also has the first year Quadrajet carb on it, so for a Canadian built car, it might be a bit rare. That's another reason why it "talked to me" and is begging to be fixed up to drive.

This air cleaner was on the car when I bought it. Obviously, it didn't come with it. What is it from? I think it looks a lot badder than the engine actually is. Which is ok.

Wow! This is a bitchin thread! I’m familiar with the looks of the nailhead, but they are really a beautiful engine.

Way back when I drove my 66 GS a work friend asked to see my motor. He had a wicked disappointed look on his face and said wow that looks old as in old fashion. The way he said it kinda pissed me off and of course being maby 19 I said lets go for a ride then and then tell me its old..No my GS wasn't a street terror but this kid never was in anything super fast as far as I knew and it was kinda cold out so I knew it would run ok.
With those rounded valve covers that look like the older straight 8 covers I admit that they kinda do look old,
but put on some AL finned valve covers and it like night and day to just how good these engines look. :D

Here's my 62. I replaced the tired old Nailhead with a 12 year old kid. It was a pretty good swap.
