Has anyone used the headliner? I need one for a burnished saddle interior. Ready to pull the trigger if they are good. Also will get the mats. the seat covers look outstanding I did. They did a great job making look oem.
Not yet...and I too have a burnished saddle interior. I just pulled the trigger and ordered it all from Legendary. Door cards, seat covers, sail panel, headliner, rug, visors, you name it, anything that has vinyl so that all the material matches.
Cool. I recovered my front seats. Lot of work. I mean lots. They recommend too much cotton. I ended up removing a bunch. Cause the foam is super thick. But looks fantastic. Next time I will farm out the seats. I’m going to try headliner too. I’m stubborn sometime. Usually wrong time, lol. Headliners and seats in much newer vehicles are easy compared to these dinosaurs.
Let me know how you make out. I’m stubborn too, and my plan is to do it all but the headliner scares me. Never done any interior stuff before. I’ll have to remember your cotton note. Legendary said about 5 months to me for everything.
Legendary is about the best on the market for our cars. In 2019, I used their springs and cover and a new foam from ACI (American Cushion Industry) because after 50 years, I'd basically be sitting on the floor when driving. I'm very happy with how it came out and used Dave Johnson's interior guy, who did a great job.
Hey Brett Were your old seat covers the originals? I ask because there is a big difference in the dimensions of the centre panel of the back rest between your old covers and the Legendary.
Doing the seats is really not that hard. Just make sure you have a nice work surface at waist height. I have done few sets in the last few years and it gets easier each time. I did these buckets last year in one day and that time period included the need to hunt down some burlap and try and buy it in the midst of the pandemic lockdown. I also did not have any cotton in my seats when I took them apart. I have attached a few pics of the final results as well as a couple showing how bad the old foam had deteriorated. It was so bad that there was a continual pile of yellow powder under the seats.
@Randy Lutz - Looks good! I can't wait to tackle the seats, just don't want to screw it up. I've watched a few of the videos they offer and it doesn't look too bad. Just haven't seen a video on the headliner yet. We'll see what happens in 5 months when they stuff arrives I got new foam for the front and ordered the install kit with all the necessary burlap and stuff. So hopefully I'll have everything needed to rebuild. I even got some extra vinyl to try and refinish my armrests, cause no one makes the 16" long pads in anything else but black. I've painted a test pair of pads with SEM Cordova brown and the color looks to match burnished saddle, just don't like the feel of it. Paint on vinyl just doesn't feel right, to me at least.
Good luck with it when you get around to doing the job. If I wasn't so far away, I would gladly lend a hand.
The old ones were original to the car, yes. That's just the angle of the photo. The new cover lines up perfectly with the original passenger's side seat.
I was taking a quick peek at my rear seats (looking for some paperwork that I did not find) and I noticed on the back of the vinyl seat covers are 01 / 69. Thought that was pretty cool . My car was built 01 / 70 so those covers sat at the factory for a year before being installed in my car. Unless somewhere in its life before me a previous owner swapped them out.

Thanks! I didn't see a need to bother with the passenger's side seat because there's nothing wrong with it. Plus, I don't sit there anyway.
Here's a short cut - instead of burlap use cheap fake fur from a fabric store to cover the springs. It has enough mass to separate the foam from the metal and is easy to find.
New foam is way thicker than old. Well it is old. New cotton is way thicker than old. It is old. Fitting it all in, is one heckuva job. Tossed a lot of cotton. And was short on listing wire which I bought locally. They used a lotta hog rings at the factory. You will feel like Arnold Schwarzenegger when your done, lol.
