Kiesler rs600 auto to manual convertion

  1. Kelly,

First thank you for posting the parts list for your conversion. It's great to be able to use this as a reference. May I ask why you choose to use the 1967 Chevelle floor hump, Year One Part#A670E, rather than The Parts Place hump BP5454S they list for the 64 to 72 GS? There is no picture of the Parts Place floor hump to compare to your installation so it seems like buying that one might be a blind choice that could work out poorly. Did the 70 to 72 shifter boot and the floor trim ring from The Parts Place fit well on the Year One 1967 hump? Also if you feel the 1967 Chevelle hump is the best choice The Parts Place shows one online, Part#BP1391C, is this the same unit you purchased from Year One in your opinion?

    Thanks!!

If you use the stock Buick (Hurst #5335) lever try the shifter boot for a 66-67 Olds from Fusick Olds. The Olds shift lever is the same dimension at the bottom. The engraving on the side is different.

I read all the threads in this form on 4 speed convertions, that is were i got my information. you could just order it, from the parts place, from experience they are very good with returns. The ring and boot worked well.

Ive been toying with the idea of going with a 5 speed on 67 GS from my current 2004r.. Did you consider TREMEC's TKO 5-speed vs the Kiesler?.. please do share the thought on why.. I would like to use my original console and convert the automatic shifter slot to the manual.. can do? any thoughts?
    Thanks..

  5. Kelly,

Thanks for confirming the floor hump and shifter boot details.
    Your installation looks first class.

    Cheers,

You should check out there web sight. Kiesler is the only company offering a new tranny that is built for our cars, the RS series fits in the tunnel without cutting it up, i had to do no cutting of my tunnel. a TKO will require cutting and sheet metal work to make it fit. Also the RS 600 is a true close ratio 1-4, i was told TKO's have the lower first gear like most truck transmission, and i have heard it called a truck transmission. Also a TKO's are know to be hard to shift from 2-3, over 6000 RPM. I sometimes rev to 6500 and did not want to deal with that problem either.

I think you mean 2-3 shift problem, while trying to power shift its like you hit a wall. The RS is the way to go......
