The motor came out of a 72?buick riviera. It has low miles since rebuild, 9.1 compression and a very mild cam. The car has 3.73 posi. Any idea what it should run on the 1/4 mile? I am hopeing for low 14s. The car ran 13.3 with a low compression 455 olds and 4.11 gears. The olds motor had headers and a nasty cam though.
My buddy made nice frame brackets. He is more skilled than me...I'll admit it. We dropped the motor in and he made brackets that fit the factory holes with no drilling and the motor sits nice.
Some pictures of mounts and the swap. The other car is my buddys Camaro.

I would think basement 14s on a good tune. Its a lot easier to get power out of the Buick than the Olds but like the Olds it has oiling problems that should be addressed on rebuild. Headers and free flowing exhaust system will help a lot. Carb looks like it will need some attention.

I have another carb for it and I am going to rebuild that one to see witch works best. I did use the stock manafolds but it has 2"1/2 exhaust after that.
I can't wait to drive it...I fired it up but the fuel pump was bad so I only ran it a few times on fuel I put in the carb.
Any more tips or tricks would be appreciated. This is my first buick motor.

I can't see it in the picture too well, but is that a non-A/C heater box? I'll just say that that is a nice shop you've got to work in, and I hope you're pleasantly surprised with the Buick motor. Good luck!

I diden't think any one would pick up on that heaterbox....I changed it when I had the car off the frame. The non ac heater box makes the last plug easer to get to but it still hits the motor. :Dou: I pulled that box out of a el camino not realizing all the ducts woulden't fit my car....I diden't think I would get the dashboard back together but I stuck it out till I found all the parts.
I had to spend 20 hrs sanding and painting my friends boss's boat to use the shop.lol
Thanks I hope it goes good too. Tom

I have it running and cleaned it up a bit. I goes good..burned the tires through second gear...it was a little damp out but the street was dry and it felt decent. Definitely not dissapointed.

So I gotta ask... what prompted you to switch from the Olds to the Buick engine?

BTW... love the blackout treatment on the engine! Looks sleeper! :)

The olds motor was in there for 10 years. It had major blowby and low oil pressure from me beating on it.
I bought the buick motor for $400.00 with all the accessories.I am happy with the power the buick motor has and it has a nice roll to it at idle with the cam it has.

The car goes better than I thought. I beat my friends bmw m3 and some guy on a motorcycle. I am very impressed with the power of this motor.

My name is Tom. No time slips yet but I once beat a guy who once beat a ten second camaro.(joke)
I want to get some slicks and then I will go up the track for a reality check. I will let you know as soon as I run it.
