Just reading this thread, btw great thread.
We discovered the MAIN reason why speed increase’s at the end of a quarter mile from spin/traction at the beginning, and with everything else being the same.
Between our race team and Bombardiers’ (Ski-Doo) engineer’s while testing, a higher et (slower in time) gives the vehicle more “time” in the same distance to gain more speed by the end of the same distance.
Remember, speed is only measured in the last 60 feet of the quarter mile.
Kind of confusing until you really think about it. But makes sense.

I should edit this a bit. Speed is RECORDED in the last 60 feet of the quarter mile by NHRA’s system. Although when we tested we had various outside recording systems and sensors in place on, and outside of the vehicle that would blow your mind…along with NHRA’s system. Where talking jack shaft rpm, track rpm measuring slippage, secondary rpm, versus clutch rpm, measuring slippage, belt slippage, and on and on. Even with overlaying graft’s throughout the whole runs. Quite impressive.

20230304_130548.jpg dad and I putting my rebuilt transmission in and JW converter. 38° no heat. My dad complained. I said it's warm enough. Should have better runs at the track this year.

Jeremy, don't be so "brutal" on the old man!!! Laying on cold concrete in 38 degree weather is something that's done at "your age" but not at his, (or mine). LOL!!!!!:D

They are awkward to get used to. I crawl on the ground most of the time. Garage floor is clean enough. Well it was clean until I spill oil all over haha. Didn't know what to expect taking off tranny pan for the first time in my life. I bought a new pan with a drain plug.

I look for rugs that people are throwing out, or even big cardboard boxes. Anything is better than laying on hard cold concrete.:)

Lol, I know the feeling! Wanna get something done, gotta do it before my fingers get numb!
    Hey, that was poetic, HAHA

    How thoughtful!

Yep, I hate em too, they take away what work room you have height wise, plus they don’t creep, they get hung up on tools or an airline, or a frickin’ pebble, then I slide off!!!!

Who uses racing log books? Well look what my dad gave me to use this year. It's from 1995! 20230329_184229.jpg

I log every pass. The more info the better. Even what I eat that day! I thought it would be a good logbook for a beginner...

those log books are great, document every change, weather, tire pressure, rpm launch point, you name it everything. This way I could repeat the results for another day. I would staple every race slip to that page and I could review and think of what I did later on that night or shouldn't have done. Good habit to do on every pass from the very beginning. That's a lot to remember if you don't write it down, the older you get the harder that is.
