Got rained out sat. Next race is Aug 6th and it's 1/8 mile. Might go Friday the 5th for street test n tune for the 1/4 mile.

I would do your tuning on the 1/8mile,..less wear and tear and what whatever works on the 1/8 will certainly work for the good on the big end

Friday car ran slower with the drag radials. 13.58 @ 100mph. Real humid and hot.

Saturday 1/8th mile ran slow 8.64 @ 79mph humid and hot again. Street tires in the 1/8th ran 8.55 @ 82 mph?

Sometimes tire spin can actually increase your trap speeds, and ET. It acts like higher numerical gearing. Did you look at your RPM through the traps?

Hot and humid can slow you down considerably.

What track are you racing at?

I'm still pretty new to drag racing. But from Friday to Saturday I went from 20psi to 17psi in rear. I think my first pass Saturday tires spun since tach went to 5500 right as I passed the tree.

My second pass was recorded and didn't seem like the tires spun. Tach would be 5000 range going by tree. After the tree I don't know. It all goes by too fast.

I'm at Wisconsin international raceway in Kaukauna, WI.

No, I mean through the traps. RPM at the end of the quarter mile.

    336/28 X 3.55 X 100 = 4260 RPM without converter slip.

Can't remember. I don't think it got close to 5500 like it did with the street tires. Next test n tune is Aug 19th.

I know it is hard to do, but as you are going through the traps, just quickly look at the tach and see what the RPM is. Street tires or Drag Radials shouldn't make any difference other than the 1" taller height. That will tell you if you have too much slip in the converter.

buy-back.... Nothing quite like having the opportunity to turn a bad weekend, into a worst one.

About 25 or so years ago when I was bracket racing nearly every weekend, the track owners/event promoters, eager to maximize their dollars from a given car count, came up with the buy-back after a first round loss. I first saw this at the big dollar bracket races in the mid-late 90's..

In one of the big dollar races I went to that year, l gave away the stripe and lost by less than .001. I was hot that day on the lights, time trials and first round were all .503-.510 (told you it was a while ago..)

So I ponied up the 50-75 bucks......... whatever the buy back was.

And promptly lost the buy-back round by .001- I did nothing wrong, another "0" light and ran right on... problem was, my opponent had a better "0" light and ran right on with a zero.. his good luck was my bad luck.

    Never again...

Successfully Bracket racing is simply described as "Mastering the skill to put yourself into a position to be lucky".

Some days your luck is bad, and it's best to accept it and pack up and go home. Even if it sucks.

Is the glass half full or half empty? Lol..I look at it as it's another race, and you didn't have to travel to it. You don't get points anyway so if you do have good luck and win,you get to go after people in the points and take them out. It adds a little fun too!! Some days you and the car can be on but you still loose. It happens. Heard are track is only going to be 1/8mile the rest of the year.no glue!!

At least buy-backs are only 1st round. Early on they were doing 2 rounds.....not uncommon beat a guy but can't get rid of him or lose to same person twice.
Some of these big money races they have double entry plus buy backs.....I guess it's just gambling. Roll your winnings into buy backs and doubles and eventually you might hit it big. The guy Steve Sisko who won the million dollar race on one of the 3 days in Michigan said he had alot of money in double entries for 3 days plus buy backs and travel costs to get that purse. I believe he said 6 grand to win the million.
And it was a borrowed car......

Got two runs in today before the rain.
    13:44 @ 100 mph with head wind.
    13:31 @ 101mph wind died down.
    1.82 60'
    Car launched good both times.
.013 green and .009 red light
Tach is 5200ish through the lights with the bigger tires.

That was my .013 light run.
The other car went 112mph and I still beat it at the finish. His light was .1 something. Crazy how reaction changes track position
