didnt want to start a new thread since this is the same motor....but

I have what seems to have been a small oil leak on the timing cover below the fuel pump between the bottom and second bolts to the block. It was managable but has gotten worse......Now to find out that the timing cover has a crack in it that is widening. Wondering if anyone has had this happen as this is really not a load area and it is perplexing.
The cover is a v6 unit with the cam button spot ...wonder why... but are these covers suspect ?

    Was it an ebay cover??

no....bought from napa couple years ago.....probably just a fluke but still wondering.
Will get a new one this winter and maybe then the roller can go in

The leak is plugged for now...hmmm ordered a new cover so the winter will see some changes.
Some thoughts ??? I changed to a 31 front squirter and a 28 secondary.....seems to respond much better at launch...but still has a slight stumble at maybe 3500.....just wondering if maybe a higher power valve might help/ maybe a 7.5 to get it in the mains a bit earlier ?? The motor even with the cam it has and all still pulls 9.5 just before launch.
I am also wanting to try a 3500 or maybe more stall converter....The 2800 thats in there now is even tighter than the first motor..go figure but I have to believe that a 3500 would make it get into the band a bit more comfortable ?

The 3500 will definitely get you into the power-band. I used a loose 3500 that rocked. You could try changing the pump cam on the carb or use the number 2 slot on it. You always use a power valve that is 2 hg lower than the current vacuum reading in drive.

took the car out last night to the local wine tasting event...lots of people. when we were leaving I started the car up and half a dozen people came running out just talking it up...alot of cudos. Left the parking lot and came to the first light ( only light ) and sat there at the red, couple of kids next to us were watching so,....I let er rip at the green, my wife could only screem....:Do No: ..after we hit 90 at the third gear shift she just said... oh my god !!!

no...no gas yet. It's been a bit wet here and i can't drive the car as it just is like on ice when there is ANY dampness on the road. Still planning a new 3500 converter ( would anyone be interested in a coan 26-2800 stall ? ) and am going to change to a msd box with a programmable curve. Just rerouted the pcv to the valve cover and put an oil seperator inline which relieved the crankcase leak
