Is there a strong 4 speed w/a 3:1-ish first gear?

    Dan,
Yes the iron GM case is the hybrid case. I reread my earlier post and I was backwards on its description. The left side is dodge and the right side is GM. I would offer to sell you one but I only have one left and I am saving it for my kids car. I still have the Iron Dodge case tranny I built, it's still an overdrive, but shipping it would be a pain and really expensive.

Good info....thanks! I figured it was the left side. That bottom left bolt is a PIA with the GM pattern. I actually have to used a stud in the bell there.

Nice link. Lucky guy, in all the years I was looking for them I only found 1 in a pick-n-pull. I had to look pretty hard to find the stuff I gathered up. I looked in every half ton truck I saw sitting around and had to check lots of them before you found one. Wrecking yards have them and I scored a couple at swapmeets. Good luck with it. Where in CA are you located? I grew up in CA and did not recognize that town.
    Thanks

I think I have found one. Should I bother getting the Chevy truck bellhousing? I could have it for free, but I would have to pay shipping.

    Thanx.

Unless your gonna run it behind a Chevy, or spring for a $50 adaptor plate, I'd pass on the bell.

What are the shifter options w/the OD trans?

My first one had a shifter on it. Was a Hurst too. Not a Comp plus though. However, I have to fab my mounts and linkages for my G body application, since the shifter is much further forward.

Got one, out of a van, it is a cast iron one, $150. Now, w/the help of Brandotheamazin, who will pick it up & ship it my way, I should be rowing gears real soon.

first time actually reading this thread, now I want a 4 speed, only put a few miles on my car and I think a 4 speed would be more fun, heh. I've got his trans in the bed of my truck, he'll have it soon. :)

BTW that thing was almost as heavy as my TH400. wow! felt like it'd hold up, mostly when I was the only guy (130 lbs) lifting it into my pickup (lifted)
