The pandemic continues to affect events across the country and events planned this year by the Buick Club of America and The Riviera Owners Association were no exception. The Antique Automobile Club of America has found venues that allow car shows to be produced in as safe a manner as possible. This outreach to other car enthusiasts is not new to AACA as several car clubs have officially joined AACA in Auburn in past years. Thusly, AACA has invited Buick owners and flea market vendors, along with two other smaller car groups to attend their Nationals in Auburn, IN. The Buick Heritage Alliance will be sponsoring the awards and we will have a show field and flea market adjacent to the respective AACA events, but distinctly for Buicks. Buick owners may participate in all AACA activities including the Friday night cruise in and the Saturday night BBQ dinner. You need not be a member of the AACA, but if you are you can be judged in both the Buick show and the AACA. If you are not an AACA member, AACA is offering a special discounted half year membership for those who wish to join and participate in AACA Judging. There will not be a specific host hotel for AACA or for Buick owners. There is a list of hotels AACA has a negotiated rate for (see the tri-fold). As for Buick judging, it will take place on July 3rd at the Auburn Buick Celebration. Please note that we will not be using BCA, AACA or any other club judging programs for this event. Our judging will be unique to this show. All Buicks must be on the show field by 9AM for the start of judging and complete by 11AM. Judging will be conducted by a judging team per class and 3 vehicles per class will be selected for a class award. There will also be special recognition awards for various categories (e.g. Outstanding Pre-War, Post-War, etc.), these cars will be selected by a distinct judging team from any class team who will look at all Buicks on the show field. At 2:30PM on the show field we will recognize the winners and distribute the awards at this time. The AACA BBQ dinner will follow as per the schedule and AACA’s awards will follow that. We will need assistance with class judging. If you are interested in in judging please contact Brian DePouli with your first three choices for classes to judge. As this is an anniversary year for 1941 and 1991 we would really like a large turnout of 1941 Buicks and any year Reattas to celebrate those Buicks.
