What we found out about the 300 is that as usual Buick used relatively long rods and a long pin height in the pistons, meaning a lot of space between the pin and the bottom ring and you can see that on any standard Buick piston. This means that by decreasing that distance you can keep the long rods and the good rod ratio. To put this in perspective, I built a 340 with 7" long rods and no interference between the piston pin and the rings and that was with blower pistons. The deck on the 340 is 9/16" taller than the 300 and as long as the ring package is reasonably compact the 300 can use the long 350 rods just fine (6.387"). So that's the cheaper option with those Ranger pistons Jim mentions.

However if you want a sturdy bottom end, the ex-nascar/forged piston route is the way to go. You spend the bucks on the pistons and having the mains turned but the rods are so cheap as to be almost free. The bearings cost more than the rods and since the mains and rod joirnals are reduced in size you can hit your clearance numbers dead on. The Pankl rods are very nice and have no clearance issues. The 6.2" length gives a nice rod ratio and a little extra room for the pin.

But the least expensive solution is to buy the 300 crank.

The problem is that EVERYTHING is new internally.pistons pushrods lifters cam etc..except the issue with the crankshaft. I'd really just like to find a replacement.im pretty invested at this point.

Skye if you want it I'm willing to box it up and get it to the shippers but you can get a shipping quote just as easy as I can. 41042 area code. What's it weigh, 60lbs I think? If memory serves. Find out that cost and make me an offer. You know how to PM me right? I'm perfectly happy to help you out.
