Not adjustable. My machinist measured per TA's instructions and then I ordered the correct length.

Inspecting all the hoses is next on the list.

I had the tank out a couple years ago and forgot to do it.

Intermittent + Breaks Up = Ignition

Be a mechanic, not a parts changer. Mechanics test, and act on observable results of that testing. Parts changers change parts willy-nilly hoping they will fix the problem. Guess who is frustrated more, and ends up spending more money.:D

My '71 Stage 1 did something similar to this when I first bought it. It wouldn't pull past 4000-4500 without breaking up. Turned out to be worn distributor bushings. After checking just about everything else, I grabbed the end of the distributor shaft and wiggled it. It had noticeable play. I replaced it with a rebuilt distributor from the local auto parts store and the problem was fixed. I did save the original 016 Stage 1 distributor. I didn't turn it in for the 5-10 dollar core charge.
I'm not saying this is your problem but it doesn't cost anything to check.

I've had this symptom on two occasions. One was a weak fuel pump. The second time it was a weak ignition coil. Both had similar symptoms. A coil swap takes 15 seconds .

Taulbs speaking from hands-on experience, I was there.

I'd still install the Robbmc pump if you e got one, I loved mine and kinda wish I had stayed with that setup.

Ignition is a rebuilt, recurved unit with all new internals.

The coil I put in yesterday is a new unit I've had in stock since last year. This is the second or third one I've tried.

At some point you have to rule out ignition.

Sure. Just as soon as you conclude you've found the smoking gun.

This is the 3rd distributor I've tried with this build.

And the fuel filter is new as well.

Plug wires are brand new 7mm Fire Cores.

This distributor was also tested on the builder's GSX before he shipped it back to me.

Agreed but how many different units of the same part do you swap in and out before you figure it's time to move on?

    Hence "grabbing at straws".....

This car isn't much fun anymore, I know that much.

New engine and front light harnesses last April.

That motor was old and tired but this was never an issue.

Whats the distributor rotor look like? Is the blade nice and shiny clean? Sometimes a film of corrosion can build-up on the leading edge.
My dad used to run the engine in the dark and fine mist the ignition with water and sometimes it would reveal a suspected electrical leak (arcing). You don't need a lot of moisture, either. I'd check the resistance of the wires, too. Curiously, what brand spark plugs are you running?

Rotor is shiny, yes and I'm running Autolite #23 plugs.

I have no idea what that means. Are they spiral core or those carbon core wires?

Pull the dipstick and smell the oil for presence of gasoline
