Demko just bought a 318 for his Lark.lol I had 2 of them one in a Fury and purred like a kitten no sound no movement.. I wrecked that one nice car. The other one I had was a 70 Polara with a bad valve always had some kind of leak and to top it off I beat Ford Cougar light to light about 1/8 mile he was pissed.
My Fury with the 383 and 2bbl would burn a 1 wheelie peelie for a block. It would hit 120 right now It would not beat your car now but when yours was stock it would take it out. Guaranteed. Obviously you never rode in a 68 Cuda with a 383 and 4 yanker. would smack that 350 around all day.
My cousin had a '66 Charger 383, it wasnt fast, but Im sure he ruined it by a too big a cam. I remember he was putting head gaskets on it, and he was punching holes in the head gasket to match the holes in the block, Im thinking "Mike I dont think your suppose to do that" Well we took it down to the gas station to fill 'er up, he was starting 'er up, wahnenenenenenenene, kerPOOOOOOOOOOOW That mother misfired or something so fierce, it cracked a piston, and the combustion pressure went into the crank case, and blew off the oil fill cap/breather and sent it across the parking lot (no hood on it) Good thing it didnt hit nobody, LOLOL. It was a cool car tho, medium blue, black/white interior, power windows, rheostat wipers. The interior was the neatest part, lotta stainless trim, very fancy, it was cool, so was the dash
Oh. the 383 was 335 hp 1970 350 hi comp 350 4 bbl Buick was 315 Not much difference/ The 383 was somewhat considered a performance engine. The 350 Buick was considered just a 350 Buick for LeSabres, and Skylarks, for sure an underdog.
