    NNNNNNNNNOOO:ball::ball::ball:OOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't stand seeing that, let's not make this some kind if yearly event. I lost my car to a fire, and the people here really helped me out to get me back on my feet again.

What's your paypal address? I want to help out so you can at least get the primer on there, and then decide what you want to do.

I can't stand looking at these pictures as I get a lump in the back of my throat. I'm sure your friend feels terrible and I would think he would help you get it cleaned up with a fresh coat of paint. (I know his garage and all his tools are gone but maybe he knows of someone locally that could help out). As far as the insurance, well.. I don't know how that'll work but the focus now should be to get the car cleaned up and in primer before it rusts. I know how sentimental this car is to you and I have no problem sending a check for $100 to help in your repair process, just post your address. I don't do paypal and I'd like to help. The beer tab alone should be over 100 bucks on this one...

My car is coming home Saturday after a long restoration and this has given me incentive to call homeowners first thing Monday to ensure I'm covered if this were to happen here. Again, post your mailing address and I'll forward you a check in an attempt to help out. Good luck and keep us posted.

    Sorry for your loss.

I guess the only thing to come out of this is the lessons learned:

    1. Always have the proper amount of insurance, especially an agreed to value.

    2. Using friends that do not have the proper insurance puts all the risk on you.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words , encouragement and offers of financial help . Drove three hours today to look at a 74 hatchback and made an offer. Hopefully i'll hear some good news in the next few days. It's not in the shape my dads car was but I think i may be able to piece a car between the two of them. Thanks again for listening , it really helps when someone else understands your pain . Thanks Mike

If it gets resurrected from the ashes, does it become a Phoenix? Just a little X-body humor....

Where in N.B. are you located? Is your car the green one that was in Dieppe? I remember that car being in great shape and someone was in my shop back in the summer talking to me about the green Apollo that was from Dieppe, hope everything works out in either a second chance or a good twin to it is found.
I might be able to help out in the glass dept.

    Hi Jeff ,
Yeah , that was mine , the green one from Dieppe and WAS in good shape is correct. Thanks for the offer of help with the glass, I 'll hit you for a price on a back window when it's time. Just where is your shop?
Jamie and everyone else that has offered to help financially , I don't know how to explain it but it just feels wierd when someone you've never met and don't even know offers to help financially as much as the people on this board have done.Kimson will know what i'm talking about as i've gone back and read the posts on him losing his car . I'm going to wait and see what the appaiser has to say on monday and then i will let everyone know. Thanks again to everyone. Mike Thibodeau

Maybe it was a relative of yours that was in my glass shop in Sussex Corner this summer talking about your car. I remembered the car he talked about and IIRC it was his uncles (your cousin maybe?) We own a nice '70 Acadian and keep it @ our shop that my son and I did and that's what got us talkin' about that style of cars "Nova, Omega, Ventura, & Apollos". Lemme know how it works out with the appraiser and if I can help out just let me know.

Yea small world! It was Rick from Action, and yes I also know of Frank and his cool '72 Chevelle and his ol' GTP was a favorite of mine. Still got our '99 Regal GS passed down to youngest son Brett to use for daily transportation to NBCC for his small engine /motorcycle repair course classes everyday.

I hardly ever check the QO Pontiac site anymore but it I've always lurked and haunted this board and even more so now that I just bought a '70 GS.
    Say howdy to Frank!

I feel for you. I had a nearly identical experience. When I was 19, the body shop burned down 3 days after I delivered my beloved Hurst Olds all stripped down to be painted. They got it out, but not before the back third was moderately burned. Insurance? The shop did not have any, I was only 19 and had liability only on the car. The shop owner was a member of my church and it was his livelihood. What else 'ya 'gonna do but roll up your sleeves start over. He did repaint it for no charge, but it took a while. I was cosmetically restoring it to sell for college tuition in the fall. That was not a good year, but it was one of those experiences that 'builds character'. I don't think you wanted any more 'character', though. If I lived near you, I'd come over just to help out of sympathy ...

Juat a heads up about the claims process so you are not surprised later on. Your going to be in the best position to judge the relationship with the body man (& his father) moving forward. If your Comprehensive coverage requires a deductible, you might ask that he cover the deductible for you. Understand this, though, if these facts were inside the US, the insurance company will usually subrogate against the responsible party after it pays your claim ... meaning the right to recover against the responsible party transfers from you to the insurance company upon you accepting the insurance company's funds. Most insurance companies will not let this end there and are not required to have your consent to start a process pursuing all possible identified parties (liens, court, etc.). You have a bailment situation and the bailor (shop/painter/bodyman) is responsible for your property while in proper possession of it. If a future relationship is important with the shop owner, you might ask your claims rep about this process.

Well I did it I bought another one. I bought it as a parts car but now my son says it's too good of a car to part out so he wants it. Still undecided as to what were going to do . The only thing different is this is a hatch car and mine is sedan and the color of course.
