I know it has been posted here before ..but I cannot seem to locate the thread. Does anyone know how to remove the non bolt in Hurst shifter handle from a 70 GS? I need to send it in for a rebuild and the handle needs to be removed.
    Thanks for the help.

Stick a feeler gauge down the side. I think it is the drivers after first applying some penetrating oil. I think I used a few thouandsth but you can fit and feel. Before I was successful I put one in both sides and pulled it out. What you are doing is releasing a spring loaded catch from the detent position.

The best rebuilds and replating on the mechanism and shifters that I see are done by
    DME LLC
    Dennis Maraoudas
    Dmellc@charter.net

Better than Hurst's work and about the same price. Also Hurst ( now Mr Gasket) will not replate the handle and therefor wants you to remove it. If you send it to Dennis he will take it out of the mechanism as he does both plus he rebuilds 4 speeds. A craftsman he is.

    Thanks

    Thanks Jim
I will definatley send him a message. The chrome handle does have a few scratches, and would probably be the ticket to have that rechromed at the same time.
    Thanks again.
