In my youth I'd go out in the rain with a bucket of suds and a rag. Suds it up and let the rain rinse it off.

I live on a gravel road and yes I really make others on the road mad because I refust to get over 25MPH. You can wash from the top down all you want but I suggest a really good rince to get any and all loose dust and grime off before you go rubbing even soapy water on the paint.

When we go out to a show I stop at the nearest $1.50 car wash, that lets me starting at the top and go around the car 3 times on the rince cycle. Pull out of the bay and use my car squeegee to remove as much water as I can that has remained on the car.
Like this except mine has a wool side too.

At the show I start at the bottom shine tires and wheels then slick mist from the bottom up changing MF towels once above the rocker panals.

A friend carries a small 12V blower like a dust buster but blows intead of sucking.

    Donuts and Peelouts,
I use a cheap electric Ryobi. I had a Homelite that I liked better, but it broke. I use them for EVERYTHING!

John - That's why you use car wash soap - it does not remove the wax. Dawn is a great wax stripper! Also, the clay bar will remove wax as well. I use the clay bar once a year then apply wax on the super clean surface.

If you drop sponge don't use it without cleaning. One grain of sand will scratch finish....

Reminds me of a detail guy I used to see working at a Buick dealership in the 80s. He would set buffer face down on shop floor. Like I said ONE grain.....

I've heard of using a tea spoon of vinegar to prevent water spots when washing in the sun. But that will change the ph of the water. What do you guys think about that

Water spots is a very common problem at my home to to hard water. I did install a out side water spigot strait from a water soften pipe but still get them. Those spots get hard also can feel them under a micro fiber cloth going over the paint.

What I like about lucas slick mist, i mist the car/truck with water apply the slick mist and rub it in. Removes the hard water spots and leaves a shiny car behind.

Just did my truck yesterday. Had gotten some Wizard mist and shiune as a door prize at a car show last summer. Normaly I use that on the truck to use it up. It makes the truck look good but needs extra work. Leaves a cloudy film I have to go back and buff out.
So I went back to the Lucas slick mist so I didn't have to go back and buff it out.

The county graded our road so it was a dust bowl, drove slow but there was some heavy dust cloud rolling behind me. Got back home and the truck was dust coated bad.

I actually used the stuff he is talking about . Got it last year and love it. Got it from Superior products, Formula 4 spray wax. Have turned a couple of guys here at work on to it. Using that formula 4 and a leaf blower never have to hand dry the car ! Love that stuff !

I’m going to try using my leaf blower to dry the hard to reach areas, seems like it should work and easy to control the speed.

Hugger, Those have to be the most labor intensive car wash that I've ever seen! Just LOOK at the effort they put into their craft. Just LOOK! OOPS, they missed a spot on that car behind them. Gotta start all over. Guess I'll have to supervise the process AGAIN!!!
