I want to remove just the tailshaft from my t10 tranny. If I remove the pin from the reverse gear (I read somewhere to punch them out from the bottom going up) and pull the reverse gear out, then remove the 3 bolts holding it to the main housing and the 2 bolts holding it to the mid plate, will it just slide off? Appreciate any help or tips here.

I guess its a waste of time asking a question here. Next time I won't bother.

    Just saw your post....
I did it years ago but don't recall exactly how.
There are vids on You Tube showing how to do it. Your procedure sounds familiar.
If you lose the detent spring or ball, a Muncie is supposedly the same pn, but the spring I bought was a bit too long and the ball wouldn't retract enough to put it together. Web advice on putting the spring/ball back in using a shim didn't work for me. Struggled with it for too long. IIRC, once the spring/ball was in place, I pulled the selector out all the way and the ball stayed in place while the tail was put back on. Then slide the selector in a bit till the pin fits in.
