Anthony Mackleys street car is in the 700 HP range and seems to be holdin up fine he just had to build a new trans and rear end to handle the power.....

Thanks. That makes me feel better.Your engine makes some serious power with a 413 cam.

Jay, that's an awesome intake number (374). Your other heads that were Rick's flow 331 intake at .600 (28 in vac). (I have a copy of the flow sheet) My JAGUICK heads flow 334.

I would run the biggest headers you can as the intake/exhaust ratio is off.....and be prepared to rev it 6600-6800 to take advantage of em.

    I wouldn't go stroker....I'd rather rev a 464....but that's just me.....

Our Trishield perf engine is a 475 with 10.7 compression and STG1TE heads it made 649HP at 6200rpm and 622 Torque, so with your compression you should we right up 700+ with all the light stuff to.

Bruce what did Ricks heads flow on the exaust side?I might be putting that engine in my car for the nats.I already have all the parts to do a 494.

232 at .600 on the exhaust. I gave Burtonsville my Stage 1 SEs and said make em flow better than Rick's:Brow:....they did but not by much.
Remember .600 numbers are not the whole story. Just as important are .300-.400 numbers because the valve spends more time in that range especially with the relatively low lift cams we run....compared to Chevys.

    Jay,

Stick with the 308s and the setup as purchased since the components are matched. The 308s cam was selected because it makes great power in the usable RPM range. If you go with a bigger cam you could probably make more power but it will be outside of the power range a stock ungirdled block can handle (we don't race dynos we race cars well some people race dynos but I can't figure out why).

The lift on the 308s is small enough you won't need so much spring pressure that it will break the block. You can also use the thinner T/A push rods saving weight in the valve train. I shift my combo at 6500 and go thru the traps about 6700.

Have Burtonsville do the shortblock and tell Bub you want the same setup as mine (half filled block and internal balanced crank is very important)

You have to decide if you want to actually race your car or just work on it and tell people how much power your motor once made on the dyno.

That is because he is cheap.

Bruce runs a "custom grind" cam and his runs slower than if he would have run a 308s in his car.

Call me if you have any questions.

Cheap? My custom cam cost more than the 308S.....plus I already ran the 308S....wanted to expand my horizons.

Cheap? You live 2 min from the track and raced twice last year...in your street car.:Brow:

I have to many irons in the fire Paul.I get side tracked easy.I have all the parts to do my 494 I just got to get to give it to someone to do the machine work.Im either going to get Burtonsville,Finishline,or Roache racing engines.Roache racing engines is 2 miles from my house and does real nice work Burtonsville is about 30 miles from my house Finshline is about 600 miles but Bob is at alot races and i could drop my stuff off at the track and he does nice work.
