I was wanting to no how many Buick Racers run Stage 4s and how do they come pair to the othe Stage heads they have ran. Is there some 4s out there that are 400 + on the Flow. I would like to here some flow numbers and what intakes they are running. TA was telling me these heads work and flow very well with Aftermarket intake's. Is there some out there using SP2 intakes with these heads

I would ask Mike T. directly. He probably has the best set of heads out there. I have never heard of a BBB head flowing 400 cfm, would love to hear if there is. May be Dave Mongeon? I know J. Zeruka's aren't that much. An SP2 would need a ton of porting to mate to a stg 4. Why doesn't TA make an intake for the head they sell? Would it be that hard to increase the runner size on a batch or so?

    stage 4 head flow

Jeff, my buddy (greg looker) my head porter runs stage 4 heads i know his flow 370 ish, as for heads flowing over 400 ive heard of 1 set out there that are a good bit over 400 but i really cant say to much about them the thing i can say is you better have a good tig welder and alot of time to spend on them. these heads will be going on the bull dog if there is ever one made and from what ive heard no stock intake will fit them ethier. jeff you can go over to the post about what intake to run on stage 4 heads it talks about my buddys set up with the stage 4 stuff. thanks JOHN

No, I found the pictures in my internet travels and kept them. All I recall is they were Stage IVs ported by Champion. below are the other pictures with that one.

Are ya sure that those are Stg. 4 heads in the picture?? I thought that because the valves were slightly splayed, that you were not able to run the single shaft rockers, they had to be shaft mounted in pairs like a bbc.

Dont the ports look too wide to be stage 3's? I would say they have to be S-4's.

Now that I think of it, Dave Mongeon has stage 4 heads with a single shaft rockers. Take a look under his posts, there is a picture somewhere.

    Jeff,

Because I am a total nut case :Dou: I measure oil pressure at the highest pressure spot and the lowest pressure spot. That is the lowest pressure area in the engine. Plus I always restrict the amount of oil going over the the driver side lifter galley and I want to make sure that I am not restricting the oil too much.

Guys.... that is a great picture of that Stg 4 head. Pay close attention the the sleeve in between the two intake ports. That is the way to port a cylinder head but I must say I have been wayyyyy to wimpy to try that for fear of the cylinder head collapsing when its torqed down..

    Tube

I put the tube in a set of stage 3's,it is easy to do. I used a piece of thin wall moly tube with a hardened washer at the bottom of the hole for the tube to but against, you mill down about 1/4 inch pass the floor of the intake runner press the tube in and keep it flush at the top of the hole so when you torque the nut down it will push the tube down towards the deck.We had two sets of stage3 heads that we ported at the same time first set we did the tubes the second set we milled the head bolt boss back slightly and blended it in and guess what, all the work installing the tubes didn't pay of at all both heads flowed the same :Do No: I will post the results of the stage 4 flow testing today.......Chris

Well guys today didn't go so good, the machine shop missed the valve job just ever so slightly and the flow # went south. This pic that I have attached if you can make it out shows that the pattern from lapping the valve in is at the bottom of the 45, it should be at the top. Because of this we couldn't put the back cut on the valve therefore killing the low lift #'s when we flowed it with the 2.260 valve. We decided to play anyways so here are some test results and pic's.
    test #1 #2
    .100 74 70
    .200 154 140
    .300 225 204
    .400 281 269
    .500 335 325
    .600 369 360
    .650 382 380 peak air fow on test #1
    .750 000 390 peak air flow on test #2
