Thanks Britt. Went to an AA meeting last night. But all they talk about is drinking. Strangely that seems to be getting to be a trigger.
    I hate vodka

There are going be good speakers and bad speakers in a AA meeting. Some might romantasize the drinking in their storys.. It's up to you to relate to one or two or three etc. certain person.
Try finding a meeting you like over the others. Not because you hear the words you want to hear, for example " If someone says he stayed sober for a month and found a wife and then bought a house then a yacht etc.."
It is one day or really 1 minute at a time..
Guy there are also AA people who are called I think 13th steppers. They become sponsor's to young kids or old kids to get what they want whether money wise or the other reason which i'm sure I don't have to say.
You have alot more then others might have like the Napa shop and your cars. Just beware because some will tell you what you want to hear and "can"?? have a nasty plan.
AA can be good and works well for some but there are other ways to stay sober..
It only take 2 to have a meeting remember..

This sucks and please don't anyone ever get to this point. Btw I was never suicidal or depressed just to clear that up. Just this dam alcoholism. Don't do it.

A "Closed Discussion" meeting offers everyone there an opportunity to speak...or not. Speaker meetings depend upon the public speaking abilities of the speaker to make a "good" meeting. Some people are good public speakers and others aren't. A lot of value can be had by being early to the meeting and staying late to make connections with kindred spirits that you are comfortable being around.

Guy, I like it that your checking in;)
Wondering when you started drinking and if it runs in the family or some type of trama triggered it?
If anything you think started it, talk about it. Not in a full meeting if you can't come to talk of it but at least to a therapist.

Sorry about your Father.. You must of been born late in his life, i'm 58 and my Father also fought in WW2.

So i'm guessing the drinking started the normal way with drinking on the weekend.
Any ways I was seeking maby a reason but thats not what is important.
    Keep checking in Guy..

Yes, last one born. people thought he was my grandfather. He went through hell. being wounded and captured in the battle of the Bulge. Highly decorated and also fought in the middle east. Ended up in Stalag 9B in bad Orb Germany. Went in weighing 189 pounds came out at 87 pounds. Horror stories having to kill 13 year old boys at the end of ww2 and such.

    Oh My God..
Not go political here but your Pops fought to make things great for us only to see punks try to destroy all the good the brave WW2 generation did.. I can imagine the nightmares you might of heard.
My father only suffered severe frost bite on his feet as he was drafted in the Greek Army and was held up in the freezing mountains.

I feel guilty now bringing this up and hope I don't depress you more Guy..Always think of him as a hero though and making it the better for all of us..ok..

You are trying to fix it which is a good thing. Keep up the good work. You can do it! It is an addiction and it will be hard and it may help to focus your addiction towards something positive to help you take your mind off things. Remember you don't have to drink.

Hang in there Guy, you have many friends and folks that care about you, your life is worth a lot, don't succumb and give it away. The actions you have taken to admit something is wrong and to seek help is a wonderful step in the right direction, Keep on Keepin' on!!

Yes, he did too while fighting in the Ardennes forest. everybody talks about how cold it was then. I still have his battle boots and medals. and the flag still folded up given to my mom at his funeral.
