Hood Tach Removal?

I have an aftermarket Dixco hood tach on the ’73. It’s been there since the car was repainted in 1998 and I’d like to take it off to update the internals, bulb, and plastic lens.

I loosened both small screws and the plastic jamb nut, but it doesn’t want to budge. I gave it a tap from the bottom, and a few pulls from the top, but nada.

I can slip the edge of a piece of paper between the tachometer edge and hood, so I don’t believe it was painted in place.

The last thing I need is to mess up the paint on the hood, so before I go further, or just leave it alone, I thought I’d ask to see if I am missing something.

I like it - thanks! Will dig some up next time I am in the garage...

I think the mount that the wires go thru is a plastic nut. Just try to unscrew it.

Yep, it is plastic. I have it loose along with the two small screws, but no change.

I hope to get out the garage in the next day or two and try the fishing line.
