Yeah, but Howe's new addition to his back yard lowered the bar quite a few more notches and made the other Mopar trucks (and a Chevy) look much better.

Glad to see the Ford's back.

post a pic of Howe's love palace.

    this is a true story.

i got a 1968 road runner that was sitting for 10 years as an Xmas gift from my then mother in law back in 1988.

i decided i didnt like the teal color so i went to black instead.

to strip this car down before paint,i used about 5 different size sockets, a screwdriver, and some pliars to literally take EVERYTHING off this car, interior, extrerior, and engine bay.
i like Mopars, too, but they really were the most cheaply made cars back then, not much for quality.

as for the people buying these Hemi cars now for 100k and up and thinking they are idiots?

i know there are several Japanese and Finnish and Kuwaiti investors smiling from ear to ear right now.they were buying these Hemi cars 15 years ago for 20 grand, and everybody thought they were nuts then for buying Mopar junk for that much money.... as a matter of fact, they are actually smiling after seeing what they are getting for those same Hemi cars now. :Smarty:

Well those investor's have killed the muscle car market for the average car guy who really wants to enjoy the car for it's intended use DRIVING IT.These guy's buy them for an investment only not because it's a cool car. Then you have fleabay Testoterone has driven parts prices though the roof. How is the average Joe supposed to afford whats happening here.In most cases you can't blame the seller he doesn't jack the prices up it's some jag with more money than sense.I know this stuff is getting hard to find but do we have to rape every one who needs something lets get real :Do No:

i think the sad reality is, like many of the finer things in life, the average joe is not supposed to be able to afford these things. i agree, it dont seem right.

No offense, but I sometimes get tired with the whining when it puts blame on people with money. It's easy to say that the investors are the ones buying the cars, but it's people like you and me, plus the forces of economics. Do you mean to say that you won't sell your car for the highest market value, just so you can give grunts like you and me a good deal? HELL NO! You want a cheap musclecar? Exercise, drink a little wine, eat healthy, and outlive your brothers who own the cars now. :3gears:

There is a big difference between 20-30k than 250k.I don't expect people to give stuff away but lets be reasonable did you see the ls6 aircleaner on fleabay for 3000.00 come on use some judgement is that a fair price. Some person with more money than sense will buy this. There in lies the problem if people wouldn't pay that rediculous price the prices wouldn't be where they are.

But how much are LS6s these days?

They made over 4000 LS6s. There are more people out there who want to make theirs correct than what exists. I don't like the prices, but with 3 air cleaners available for this car, maybe you saw one of the rarer pieces?

One worry I've always had with a quite rare car that I've owned since new is some of the rare pieces on it may become irresistible to some people when they can sell them to a big buck car owner to make his correct. Already happened once when my W31 damper was "lost" by UPS. Then mysteriously reappeared after some serious phone calls from a few other people to help me. Coincidentally, the person I entrusted it to for the rebuild, was doing a big buck restoration of a W31 engine at the same time for a big dollar car. I'm sure that had nothing to do with it. Yeah, right.

There are big dollar cars out there just missing a few big dollar parts and the owners will pay very big bucks to complete them. Case in point, 1966 W30 air cleaners. There were only 54 of those cars, few more sold at the dealers in the trac pak kits, guess what one goes for if you ever see one for sale? Guess what the difference in the value of a real 66 W30 is with and without that aircleaner.

    I rest my case.

Unfortunately it also leads to more clones, more hurt people who ultimately end up with these cars (only to find out it has been faked by somebody a few owners back). It also leads to some interesting urban legends as to what's correct and what's not. Some people think just because there's a wrong part somewhere on the car, the whole car is bogus. Others think all the parts on their authentic car are correct, must have been built that way.

When the dollars get this big, these things happen more and more.

    Andy:

I've got your car here. 69 Cutlass S 4 speed post coupe. Completely original and would make a perfect W31 clone by converting the car from factory A/C and rebuild the original VIN match 350 2 barrel to W31 specs. Needs restoration, but solid as a rock underneath. Black interior, original paint (bamboo?) exterior (some primer and rust on it now), no vinyl top. All there except front bumper and grilles. Give me a call.

That's a pretty rare car you've got there. How many 4-speeds are behind 2bbls?

Things are priced within what the market may bear. Anything else and the market will correct itself. I assume this counts for W31s as well as the Track Pack cars.

what Dave just let me know is the prime example of how people can still get a reasonably priced car and have FUN with it,instead of worrying about what SOMEBODY ELSE pays for a car.

dave,i just sent you a PM.

I'm glad that you enjoy your GN but you are compairing apples to oranges in your comparison. You're not being realistic as I don't see a Buick V-6's running Top Fuel, Funny Car.......................etc. Yes, the buick V-6 is neat but plaese don't tell us how it rules the world. Your GN was lucky to run a 14.50 stock on a good day. So please, tell me how it really is, not something you you've drempt in a wet dream. Go spool up your turbo instead of some rag of a story to just upset a bunch of people that like to post somthing a little closer to reality. What did the car run new on you radials?

Most of the people you are talking to here are not running slicks, roll cages, modified suspensions. Try to do what you're doing on a 5.75 wide tire. :TU:

As a current Chevy guy and a former Mopar guy I will admit I have made fun of Mopars and Fords, teased my Ford and Mopar friends about the E.P.A. fineing them for the piles of rust in there garages ect. But honestly in the end junk or not I love all of them. AMC,Ford,Chevy,Buick, ect. One of the reasons I go to the pure stock races is to see the variety of different machines doing what they all do best. A cheap interior don`t matter, Hell most of these people have restored there cars and taken great pains to make everything perfect. Gaps, loose plastic,do you ever really see any of this? I personally love to see a unrestored survivor with all the flaws. To me it is like a walk thru the Smithsonian. Anyway I guess what I am trying to say is as different as we all are brand wise in the end we are all connected by one common thread. We all love our cars, making fun and joking is funny but leave the bashing and junk a$$ comments at the door.. just my .02

I love them all too, but I still reserve the right to enter into a friendly war or words among rivals sporting other companies emblems on the fenders.......

but all in fun only. That is probably why the Pure Stocks are such a great event. Studes, AMC, Chryslers, Fords, and GMs all seem to be well represented, and I like watching two Super Birds run as much as watching two Corvettes run. It's about a shared hobby, regardless of brand affiliation.

 now fart pipe ricers on the other hand..............

I just want to say that I love Buick's, but this morning I drove past a Sassy Grass Green 71 Hemi Cuda, about two hours later I saw a 70 Superbird. I have always wanted a Superbird and If I can ever afford one I will. I also would love to own My father in laws 70 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1. Muscle is Muscle and they are all Cool :3gears:

Now come on Buick guys let's go beat up on some Mopar's :Brow:
