hey I have a 69 lark with 4 wheel drums... I don't want to have to switch over to front discs cuz there so damned expensive. I mean the old hotrodders got away with 4 wheel drums right? I like this kit :

is this a good kit for a hardcore hotrodded 'lark running a worked over 455? I plan to run 11.5's at least and don't plan on running alot at the track, more on the street at cruise nights and stoplight racing.
Is the kit in the link I posted before gonna cut it... or will the stock brakes cut it... or will I have to spend a lot more to avoid killing myself?

Go for power front discs - you can do it cheaply using spindles, vacuum booster, and proportioning valve from a junk yard (you might even find rotors with a lot of meat, that will be thicker after turning than the replacement stuff at your local parts store). The rest of the parts are reasonable to purchase new.

(BTW, when I clicked the link it loaded search results for tires, is that right?)

yeah that link is right. I wana use tires that handle good on the street in the front, and tires that launch HARD in the rear. I was thinking about a hotchkis TVS system, ladder bars, the tires I said before, and a front disc conversion. There aren't any junkyards near me that have stuff that old. Couldn't I just order that brake stuff from a parts store like carquest or something? The parts would be more reliable, altho more expensive, but not half as much as a kit from SSBC or hotchkis. So the stock spec brakes will actually work good tho??? I mean this car is probly gonna run low 11's...

You can get most parts from the store, but I think the spindles (if available) would be very expensive. You could ask the junkyards - they used to have a sytsem to locate parts - maybe someone could get it in for you.

Post in the parts wanted section - someone here might have what you need. The spindles can come from a number of A-bodies - not just a Skylark. I forget the specific years, though.
