I am restoring a 1965 Skylark Gran Sport (401) four speed. She came with everything but the carb. My research points me to three different carbs which is confusing as heck.

The first site I found tells me the correct carb is : Carter afb #3922 - and also cites an additional number: 1370047-2.

Another site list two carbs for this car: "Early - Rochester 4-GC 7025040" and "Late - Rochester 4-GC 7025140". I am not sure what "late" or early" refers to (production date?) My vin is 444675H250245.

I sure would appreciate some help identifying the correct carb so I can get out on the road. Thanks!

Rob, the correct carb for the 4-speed is the Carter AFB # 3922.
It's very hard to find! The automatic version is #3921 and is easy to find as it was used on many 401 applications in 1965. It has the same linkage but has slightly different calibration. Make it easy on yourself and find a 3921 cheap.

Walt- Thanks a lot for the info. There is a Buick swap meet this weekend in my area and we'll see if i get lucky. If not, I appreciate hearing that something else will work. Thanks you very much. I look forward to checking out the 65 website. Rob
